Sumario: | The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and reading comprehension levels in the students of the fifth cycle of the Educational Institution N° 601374 "Simón Bolívar" Santa Clara, San Juan 2023. The type of study is non-experimental with a descriptive design, with a population of 105 students and a sample of the total population, using non-probabilistic sampling. The survey method was used, the Bar-On ICE instrument: emotional inventory as independent variable and the Reading Comprehension Test as dependent variable, being structured for each variable with its respective dimension and item; likewise, they were validated by three research professors of the University and to obtain the reliability and the Cronbach's alpha statistic was used to determine its reliability, which shows that they are reliable. Statistical graphs were used to analyze the tables of data percentages and averages. The most relevant conclusions were the following: a significant association was found between emotional intelligence factors and reading comprehension levels. This suggests that as emotional intelligence increases, reading comprehension increases because the value of Spearman's correlation coefficient indicated a positive relationship. Since there is a substantial correlation between the levels of reading comprehension and emotional intelligence in the children of the V Cycle of the elementary school of the Educational Institution N° 601374 "Simón Bolívar" - Santa Clara, San Juan 2023, the alternative hypothesis is accepted. |
