The objective of the research work was to propose a teaching method that allowed the self-management of knowledge related to the zoology of invertebrates by the students of the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Education career, comparing in-person learning vs. those not in attendance. For the development of the research, information gathering and processing methods were used, which allowed us to verify the shortcomings in terms of the use and elaboration of this type of teaching medium, for the teaching-learning process from the non-face-to-face modality. The illustrations were made to correspond with the pedagogical and hygienic requirements, which contributed to the aesthetic education of the students and raised the interest in the didactic material. Suggestions and arguments made by different experts were taken into consideration, which were largely the basis for the realization of the wor...

In this study, we address a fundamental and still relatively less explored aspect in the field of neural networks for image dehazing: the unsupervised dehazing of an image. By conceiving a hazy image as the superposition of several “simpler“ layers, such as a haze-free image layer, a transmission map layer, and an atmospheric light layer, inspired by the atmospheric scattering model, we propose an approach based on the concept of layer disentangling. Our method, called XYZ, represents a substantial improvement in image quality metrics, such as SSIM and PSNR as well as BRISQUE, PIQE and NIQE. This advancement is achieved through the strategic combination of the XHOT, YOLY and ZID methods, capitalizing on the individual strengths of each. A distinctive and valuable aspect of the XYZ approach is its unsupervised nature, which implies that it does not rely on data sets containing pairs o...

Education is one of the largest markets promoting implementation of Bring Your Own Device BYOD. The BYOD model was originated in colleges and universities, being stimulated by technologically advanced students, who demanded it, and administrators of educational entities, who agreed that allowance to get access to the network using personal devices was a competitive advantage. Nowadays this concept attracts great attention. People depend on their personal devices and want to have the opportunity to use them anywhere in order to make their life simpler and more efficient. While BYOD implementation increases, teachers determine new methods of integration of mobile devices into learning. The use of personal mobile devices of students for learning seems to be attractive for universities, since these devices would help to reduce expenses and to support teaching and learning. In biometrics technology, the fingerprint identification problem has been widely studied over the last decades due to its applicability in person identification cases. In casualty cases, recognition of the victim is required, which should be done unequivocally using fingerprint identification. The aim of this research is to innovate the fingerprint identification process, developing an efficient search method in a large database that allows finding a fingerprint in less time by classifying fingerprints into segments, according to their closest characteristics, using machine learning. Then, in a given segment, a discrete linear search algorithm is applied, with which the required fingerprint is located.
