This article analyzes features of the author’s artistic research in which he investigates space and time through soundwalking, an immersive and embodied practice with the capacity to engage critical attention and reanimate otherwise familiar surroundings. Inspired by social geographer Doreen Massey’s (2005) conception of space as “a simultaneity of stories so far” and “always in the process of being made,” the author’s soundwalks explore the points of intersection at which space is produced. In this paper, the author analyzes the temporal and corporeal aspects of the soundwalking, and their approach based upon an initial capture of sound recordings while walking a particular route, before returning them to be experienced in their original context, thereby exploiting the consequent temporal shift. Through the deliberate blending of these field recordings with the live sounds...

Recent discoveries determine that the universe is expanding rapidly. In order to explain this acceleration,a component of dark energy called quintessence has been proposed. In this article it is proposed tointroduce quintessence in Schwarzschild space-time. The Einstein eld equations for the Schwarzschilmetric are solved with an energy-moment tensor, whose components are the variables that dene thequintessence model.

To study the Andean representation of time and space in the festival is to investigate the images, signs and symbols that Andean society produces to define two essential dimensions of its culture. What should we understand by representation? This word is generally used without precise meaning. A set of images grouped around a theme is often thus designated; more specifically, it corresponds to a first attempt to systematize social reality or a part of said reality.

An analysis of 186 theses and research papers supported to opt for the Bachelor of History, at the Federico Villarreal National University, between 1988 and 2020, is carried out with the purpose of specifying preferences for periods, spaces and historical themes addressed. As these copies were not preserved in the respective archives, a personal search was carried out with authors, advisers and juries, managing to restore the total corpus of the 186 works. For the analysis, cataloging sheets, follow-up sheets and analysis matrices were prepared. It was found that the preference is highly favorable to the republican period with 66.64%, the viceregal period represents 30.60% and no work for the pre-Hispanic period. Regarding the historical space, the preference is highly favorable to the province of Lima with 49.46%, another 30 provinces together make 16.12%. The preference for historical ...

This work seeks to give a description of the geometry of space-time and its fundamental properties outside the Reissner-Nordstrom-De Sitter (RNdS) black hole in relation to their respective event horizons. For this purpose, we conduct the corresponding transformation to the Kruskal coordinates, which allows us to fully and consistently analyze from the physical point of view the behavior of the causal structure around the mentioned horizons and throughout the referred space-time continuum. Subsequently, using Einstein's field equations and jointly those that govern the behavior of gravitational fields in the non-relativistic Newtonian limit, it is possible to obtain the exact form of the gravitational potential of RNdS. Finally, with this last expression, we can analyze both qualitatively and quantitatively the true influence that a positive cosmological constant can have within the grav...

We propose an analysis of the relationships with otherness that nonhumans and the forest as a living entity establish with the Llanchama Runa of the Tiputini River in the Ecuadorian Amazon. In order to develop this proposal, we have collected three stories that were shared with us during our fieldwork and that narrate experiential encounters between human and non-human beings, with special attention to the notions of time and space in which they occurred. We confront our data with the perspectivist theory and relational ontologies to delve into the particular ways in which humans face the crossings of perspective and into the figure of the shaman as a mediator and restorer of everyday life when it is disturbed bythe predatory attempts of non-human entities. We will see that the Llanchama Runa deal with non-human agencies using specific, relational and transformative values, mobilising th...

In this article, I study the effect of aging of neighbors on local organizations in San Felipe, a middle-class neighborhood in Lima, Peru. I elaborate on this effect by using the case of the control of public space in the neighborhood. I conducted participant observation during a year. During that year, I observed the dynamics of local organizations’ meetings; I interviewed 46 residents of different characteristics; and I observed a large amount of situations andcontroversies among actors in San Felipe’s public space. I find that senior residents are the ones who impose their point of view about the neighborhood’s fortune. This result is surprising considering that senior residents are neither the most numerous group in the neighborhood, neither the one with higher resources. I claim that that happens because senior residents transform time (a scarce resource for young-adult neighb...

In Garcia Marquez's narrative, the isolated geographical location, determined by the presence of water that delimits the territory, is also a constant topic. The scenario in which the stories take place is, for the most part, a single place, so there are few displacements. Throughout this work, he sought to determine to what extent this can be considered a metaphor for loneliness, in addition to reviewing whether it bears any relation to the history of Latin America. All this allowed us to reflect and understand part of the attitude of the characters. On the other hand, the evolution of the represented universe was also analyzed, to understand what role the temporal aspect plays. Finally, the customs and traditions were determined. All this in order to fragment the cosmos that the Colombian Nobel Prize winner recreates in his novels and his relationship with Latin American history.

In the current socio-political situation in Colombia and in the post-agreement scenario (2016), in coexistence with the internal armed conflict, the relationship between memory and space is reflected; it is formulated from its communicative and political character, taking into account, as a starting point, that memory is a social construction, anchored in space-time in the daily life of communities, formulated as a subjective interaction, which, when socialized, becomes collectivized; that is, it has an intersubjective nature, managing dialogic and social networks, updating ways of knowing reality and influencing the transformations of communities. The objective is to formulate a reflection on the socio-discursive and political-cultural construction of memory, to address space-time in a place of memory in Bogotá; relationship that is characterized by having a communicative, symbo...

Coastal wetlands adjacent to urban areas, such as the Pantanos de Villa in the city of Lima, Peru, are subject to constant changes in land use due to anthropogenic interaction. This has led to the reduction of dense vegetation areas, giving way to built-up areas. Therefore, this article addresses the issue of the physical changes experienced in urban areas adjacent to the wetland, such as the environmental management units, in this case the Zone of Protection of Outcrop and Surface Runoff (ZPAES), and the Zone of Landscape Protection of Edge (ZPB), as well as the Pantanos de Villa Wildlife Refuge (RVSPV), as a result of rapid urban expansion. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the spatial and temporal evolution of the Pantanos de Villa environment and urbanization within the Environmental Management Units ZPB, ZPAES, and RVSPV. To achieve this, the Google Earth Engin...

This volume brings together research on contemporary uses of historical photographs from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, conducted between 1880 and 1980. Case studies discuss how photos of the past, in the light of contemporary times and the challenges of the digital age, are answered, recontextualized and resignified. The volume poses new challenges for visual anthropology, highlighting the contrast between fluency, sense of belonging and affection, to explore the contemporary significance of historical photography in processes of constitution of memory, ethnographic imagination and identity in Latin America.

The objective of the study was to describe the fourth dimension in the use of bioecotoxic monitors in aquatic ecotoxicology. Between January and June 2024, a methodology was designed that integrated four dimensions into the analysis: three spatial (length, width, and depth) and one temporal (time), to assess the effects of pollutants on aquatic ecosystems. The results showed that each dimension, by considering the distribution of pollutants and their effects at different depths and over time, provides a detailed and holistic view of environmental health. The spatial dimension allows for the identification of critical contamination hotspots, while the temporal dimension offers insight into seasonal variability and long-term trends. The discussion highlighted that the combination of spatial and temporal dimensions is crucial for a comprehensive evaluation, enabling the detection of seasona...

In this paper we study the local well-posedness of the initial value problem for a Nutku-Oguz-Burgers system with time dependent coefficients, formed by two Korteweg-de Vries equations coupled through the non-linear terms. The system appears as a model of wave propagation in a shallow channel with variable bottom surface, in which both nonlinear and dispersive effects are relevant. The proof of existence and uniqueness of local solution and the continuous dependence on the initial data of the local solution in Sobolev spaces Hs(R) x Hs(R), s > 3/2, arebased on the works [9] and [17].

Future time perspective extension is an individual's perception of the psychological distance between future goals. The concept of extension can be expanded to include how far into the future an individual habitual time space extends and the diffusion of goals within that time space. This alignment and distance may be related to the individual episodic future thinking, the pre-experiencing of future events. Research in FTP and EFT are typically siloed; considering both approaches to future thinking provides not only greater insight into the two constructs but may also provide avenues for developing interventions. Participants in this study (n = 13) were recruited from a scholarship program designed to provide them with financial support as they progress from community college to high-wage careers in science and engineering. Students were transitioning from two-year programs at local comm...

This article proposes the relationship between the concepts of chronotope, by the Russian theorist Bakhtin, and territoriality (from a decolonial perspective) to analyze Latin American audiovisual fiction, focusing on power relations. These reveal themselves discursively, among other ways, in spatio-temporal clues that, in turn, dialogue with extradiegetic social contexts. In urban representations, we highlight the tension between public and private, while in natural environments there is a tension between nature (merged with the man represented by the native inhabitants) and civilization (represented by the colonizing white man).

The different factors that influence the spacing of levels and chimneys were analyzed. Some of these factors common to all mining operations that influence the spacing of levels are: Characteristics of the mineral and the encasing rock, economic conditions and the possibility of discovering ore in depth. In the case of chimneys, the most influential factors are geological considerations, the mining method and economic aspects. The most important quantifiable specific variables were considered to be the maintenance of chutes between levels and chimneys, the cost of which increases with the time of use and the volume of material that passes through them, that is, the spacing, and also the efficiency and safety translated into incremental cost. with spacing. Combining variables, two graphs were obtained showing the spacing of levels vs. incremental cost per tonne of ore in chute maintenance...
