In recent times there has been a great increase in the production of refined lead through the recycling of lead acid batteries. Their ease of collection and high reuse rates represent a sustainable alternative, only if they are carried out in a proper way. If an environmental framework is not established to ensure adequate preservation of natural resources and protection of human health, their use would not be sustainable. In this context, this study established an environmental risk analysis in all stages of the lead acid battery recycling process in order to identify possible environmental risk scenarios. The study was carried out under the methodology based on the UNE 150006-2008 standard. The results obtained reveal that at a global level there is a moderate environmental risk with a characterization of 57.5%, however, with respect to the human environment, a significant risk of 68% ...

The objective of the study was to determine the factors associated with QRS complex alterations in domestic dogs undergoing electrocardiographic examination at a cardiological diagnosis center in Lima during the period 2018-2020. An analytical observational study was carried out. A data collection form was used to record information about the dependent variables: duration, amplitude, polarity and morphology of the QRS wave; and the independent variables: age, sex, breed size and obesity of the dog. Subsequently, a logistic regression analysis was performed to quantify the association between the classification variables and QRS complex alterations. The results showed that adult dogs were 1.74 times more likely to present QRS complex lengthening, and geriatric dogs were 2.14 times more likely to present alterations in the duration of this electrocardiographic variable compared to young do...

In this article, we describe and apply the Fay-Herriot model with spatially correlated random area effects (Pratesi & Salvati, 2006) in order to predict the prevalence of anemia and childhood stunting in Peruvian districts. This prediction is based on data from the Demographic and Family Health Survey of the year 2019, which collects information about anemia and childhood stunting in children under the age of 12 years, as well as the National Census carried out in 2017. Our main objective is to produce reliable predictions for districts with sample sizes too small to provide accurate direct estimates, as well as for districts not included in the sample. The basic Fay-Herriot model (Fay & Herriot, 1979) addresses this issue by incorporating auxiliary information, typically available from administrative or census records. The Fay-Herriot model with spatially correlated random area ...

In sexual crimes, the special characteristics of some people make them potentially vulnerable victims. Faced with the responsibility and legislative obligation to act immediately in defense of their rights and guarantee their protection, the professionals of the police and judicial context who intervene in obtaining the testimony have the challenge to adapt the procedures for obtaining and evaluating their testimonies. Previous investigations confirm misinformation and consequent police and judicial malpractice in cases of sexual abuse of especially vulnerable victims: high delay in complaints, repeated interrogations and use of inappropriate questions. This article analyzes all these influencing factors and gives some recommendations to improve the procedures for obtaining their testimonies. Finally, it warns about the possible suggestion that could derive from the misuse of procedures ...

The synthesis of the nanocomposite based on silver nanoparticles and O-carboxymethyl chitosan (NPsAg-CMQ), by the chemical reduction method, using the O-carboxymethylchitosan 0.01% and AgNO3 1 mM in a ratio of 3: 2, with a time of 30 minute reaction, at room temperature and neutral pH. The nanocomposite obtained from the complex [Ag(NH3)2]+ was synthesized under the same conditions as AgNO3 but at a basic pH. Using UV-VIS spectrophotometry, the plasmon formation of silver nanoparticles at 410nm was verified for both silver sources. The results by Dynamic Light Dispersion (DLS) for AgNO3, shows a monodisperse distribution of the nanocomposite with an average hydrodynamic size of 166.7 nm. In the case of the diamine silver [Ag(NH3)2] + 83.9% had an average size of 54.42 nm. and 15.2% of 4.48 nm. Infrared Spectroscopy Measurements with Fourier Transform (FT-IR) shows the inhibition of the s...

Attentiveness in silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is due to their optical, catalytic and antibacterial properties; which depend on its size, shape and colloidal stability. AgNPs can be obtained by chemical, physical and biological techniques; However, “Green Chemistry” approach promotes the development of research that does not include toxic substances or high-cost conditions in the synthesis of nanoparticles, an alternative is the use of extracts of plants, algae, fungi, bacteria and viruses as agents. reducers and stabilizers in the synthesis process. For this reason, this research employs ethanolic extracts of petals and leaves of Solanumgrandiflorum Ruiz & Pav to obtain AgNPs with a particle size less than 50 nm. Using UHPLCESI- Q-Orbitrap-MS-MS, the mayor secondary metabolites present in ethanolic extracts were identified, AgNPs were characterized by UV-Vis, FTIR, DLS and FE-SEM...

The objective of the present study was to experimentally reproduce the biological cycle of Echinococcus granulosus in dogs. Twelve dogs, 4-50 months old, were infected with 80,000-308,000 protoscolices recovered from lung and liver hidatyd cysts in sheep reared in the central highlands of Peru. Dogs were slaughtered 28-39 days post infection (p.i) and the small intestine was divided in three equal portions (anterior, medium, and posterior) and parasites were counted. The location of parasites in the three portions of intestine was recorded in three dogs. Eight out of 12 dogs resulted positive to the infection and the number of parasites varied from 1,299 till 65,000 per dog. Animals slaughtered on the 28th p.i day resulted negative. The preferred site for parasites was the medium portion of the small intestine. It was shown that the oral inoculation of protoscolices from sheep hydatic cy...
