Local development from a basin perspective: the case of the Zaña valley basin” aims to describe the implementation of policies in the management of local development in the districts located in the Zaña valley basin. The central problem of our research is Is there in the local development management in the districts located in the Zaña Valley Basin a basin conception that is based on the rational use of natural resources, the development of social capital with identity and the sustainability of the environment? The object of study are the 8 districts that are located within the Zaña valley basin. It was determined that in the management of local development in the districts of the Zaña valley basin there is no basin approach. The following document aims to present a handful of studies that develop the importance of social actors as one of the groups in charge of the preservation of architectural heritage, especially those involved in traditional commerce. Within this framework, traditional local traders are the actors who are most interested in the revitalization of historical centers. Many institutions, both public and private, currently encourage policies for the development of historical centers, such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This essay aims to show the revitalization “from within” of Barrios Altos. In this sense, it explains the North American experience from the point of view of the Main Street program, which, since the early 1980s, has been developing successfully in small and medium towns in the United States. This program focuses on the revi...

It is evident the environmental crisis and consequently the global climate crisis in the current convergence, caused by the crisis of civilization, which privileges the exploitation of natural resources based on the economic, ecological and cultural model that favors more power groups or the so-called dominant societies linked to the excessive consumption of the lifestyles of developed countries and their agents. Its consequences, are adverse to the point of its real collapse, induces an obvious danger not only for human health, but also for the health of the same nature, which covers the current civilization. It is possible that everyone is responsible, one more than others, is a matter of debate. Within this perspective, in the last issue of the year (2019) of the Journal of High Andean Research (RIA) we find it convenient to include (replicate) manifest of "11,000 scientists who warn ...

This study explains the vertical discourse observed in the relationship established between a nongovernmental organization for development (NGO), a local government (LG)and community-based organizations (CBO) for food support constituted by rural women in order to “create” citizenship. The analysis is covered from the dialectic perspective taking into account that the vertical nature of such relations is the result of historical exclusion situations and the unequal concentration of power. Common in some Latin American countries, the social-political context of dependent capitalism is considered a reference framework. The study intends to highlight the fundamental role of communication – conceivedas a space of encounter and liberation – for social change. It is evidenced that the lack of communication generates unsustainable vertical relation...

Objective: To describe the management of public oral health policies from dental operators’ and management teams’ perspective in the districts of Ate-Vitarte and Santa Anita in 2017. Materials and methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, analytical, prospective and mixed methods research. The instruments and pilot plan were validated after expert opinion, while reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha. Moreover, contrast and triangulation of data from different sources were conducted. All ethical standards were met. Results: Fifty-seven point one three percent (57.13 %) of the interviewees were dental operators (odontologists) engaged in the SERUMS program and the rest consisted of management teams (directors and chiefs). Both groups did not receive adequate training in public oral health policies and were unsatisfied with their salaries. They also expressed ...

Future time perspective extension is an individual's perception of the psychological distance between future goals. The concept of extension can be expanded to include how far into the future an individual habitual time space extends and the diffusion of goals within that time space. This alignment and distance may be related to the individual episodic future thinking, the pre-experiencing of future events. Research in FTP and EFT are typically siloed; considering both approaches to future thinking provides not only greater insight into the two constructs but may also provide avenues for developing interventions. Participants in this study (n = 13) were recruited from a scholarship program designed to provide them with financial support as they progress from community college to high-wage careers in science and engineering. Students were transitioning from two-year programs at local comm...

Historic military properties in the city of Lima have been experiencing changes in recent years due to the improvised growth of the city, resulting in the gradual loss of the functions and activities for which they were projected. The limited use of military infrastructure has contributed to the inescapable interest of the private sector for real estate development as these are considerable land extensions immersed in the urban fabric. These changes have been developed without prior analysis of their importance and heritage value for the city and its residents. The present investigation analyzes the case of Rafael Hoyos Rubio Fort in the district of Rímac to understand urban regeneration of these military heritage sites, reflected from the social and cultural perspectives. In the way, the study aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of these urban en- claves to formulate short, ...

Parasitism in Didelphis sp. can express different physiological impacts resulting from the parasite load, as well as the affected organ. It is therefore pertinent to identify the sites and locations of infection to understand the possible effects on the host. The present work is a systematic literature review study on articles that described the presence of parasites and their respective sites of infection. Of the 114 studies retrieved in the literature, 54 were eligible to be included in this review. Based on the studies analyzed, the sites identified were organs and/or regions that include the: heart, mesenteric arteries, brain/cerebrum, oral mucosa, esophagus, stomach, small/large intestine, liver, gallbladder, lungs, bronchi, and bronchioles, in addition to other structures and regions. In terms of impact on the host, the analyzed infection sites suggest significant functional impair...

The category of welfare regime has been applied in critical contributions to the study of protection schemes in Latin American countries. This article reviews early debates in which this category was employed in the European context, and the transition to its application by Latin American researchers to study the cases of their own countries. The manner in which the perspective of welfare regimes and related conceptual tools were adapted to propose regional and local analyses of Latin America is also discussed. Starting with an analysis of how the Argentine case was understood, the approaches that characterized the regimes of the region as hybrid, incomplete, or embryonic are then analyzed and some possible vectors for a critical update are proposed. The theoretical review takes into account the considerable existing bibliography on Latin American welfare regimes.

It has been demonstrated that economic growth is a required condition but not enough to reduce poverty and inequality, which are obstacles to the full development of every society. As a result, different perspectives have emerged to challenge the current measurement of development, based on gross domestic product (GDP). Inclusive growth is a new approach that offers a combination of increased prosperity and greater equity. This article argues that the perspective of inclusive growth can draw on strategies implemented as local economic development (LED), and that communication for development is a significant alternative to move from discourse to implementation of endogenous processes. This analysis is based on the reality of countries rich in natural resources, particularly Peru, where economic growth and reduction of monetary poverty have been considerable, while the quality of life of ...

This article presents the results of a qualitative research project with an ethnographic approach based on interviews and observation of the work of artisanal fishers in Casma, a small coastal town in northern Peru. It explores the worldview, work techniques, and the changes, difficulties, and challenges faced by this fishing community. The study reveals how fishers perceive the sea as a living entity governed by spiritual norms and ritual practices; Furthermore, the fishers' technical language reflects their experience and the intergenerational transmission of knowledge. All of this allows us to understand how these elements shape a local knowledge that articulates experience, tradition, and adaptation to changes in fishing activity. It also highlights the importance of documenting and valuing this local knowledge as part of intangible cultural heritage
