At the beginning of the new millennium, video games started establishing links with other fields of culture, such as art, advertisement, politics and activism, among others. The combination with journalism gave rise to newsgame, a form of video game that follows the rules of the field of information, such as the coverage of current events and the creation of an agenda. The change of operation caused transformations: for example, failure, instead of being a disadvantage, enabled different ways of questioning news. This paper analyzes two newsgames from the Argentinean studio Shitty Games. Considering former elements of video game, especially from the 8-bit period, but operating within the field of journalism, Decretator (2016) and Suicid.ar (2015) refer to two recent events in Argentina and editorialize them using argumentative strategies of persuasion, typical of the persuasive genres of...

Discussion on convergence, represented in a variety of academic fields related to communication, has not included production and consumption of content, notwithstanding the relative abundance of references to convergence in Peruvian business and government papers. This is addressed by drafting a definition of convergence analyzing its specific manifestation, trying to generalize how it affects the viability of media industries and the definition of communication policy. Models of convergence are analyzed and an interpretation that helps to understand convergence as a social and cultural phenomenon is proposed.

This article discusses the integration process of the European Union, stressing the financial aspects, and also discusses the need for a single currency as a further step in that process. The analysis of the financial integration evaluates the existence of interest rate parity and convergence. The main result is that both parity and convergence seem to have been achieved, but only for long run interest rates and just recently. The persistence of important differences between short run interest rates could cause some troubles and it would be showing the skepticism of the single currency successful. Also, the article carries out that the implementation of the single currency will reduce the autonomy of the fiscal policy, and mainly the tax policy, something that appears unwanted by the authorities of the country members of the European Union that have avoided to establish agreements about ...

The explosive growth of mobile Internet services in Japan has generated great interest in understanding the reason for success. Given that the diffusion ratios of these services differ according to the countries, some studies suggest that a series of requirements must be met, and others propose that culture is one of the main factors. In addition, it is important to mention that research work to develop a model that integrates the elements that intervene in the supply and demand of these services and help us understand the reason for their adoption are still scarce. To reduce this gap, the objective of this article is to propose an integral model from the point of view of the demand and supply of the elements that intervene in the adoption of these services. For its development, a set of theories is considered: dissemination of innovations, electronic commerce, and mobile commerce, use o...

The objective was to describe the conditions in which the classes were held once the confinement for non-essential activities was declared. A descriptive, cross-sectional methodology was used with a hermeneutic approach. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of 357 members of the Health Sciences student body of the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, Mexico, in May 2020. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted. In the results, it was identified that the student body had an Internet connection (87.1%), smartphones (82.5%), and a laptop (75.8%). The student body's activities were elaborating slides for presentations in class (78.8%) and reading in their textbooks (67.5%). The activities of the teaching staff were to comment at the end of the presentations (58.9%), and they requested the search for information for the elaboration of texts (61.8%). The student body mentioned t...

The capacity of state agencies varies greatly among Latin American states, but this significant variation remains largely understudied in political science. The few studies that do analyze this phenomenon primarily concentrate on domestic causes as explanations for the variation. This article focuses on another influence on agency capacities that contributes to understand this uneven capacity of the state in the region: international determinants, and proposes two mechanisms that link external causes to enhancement of agency capacities in developing states: a) capacity by external challenges and b) capacity by external linkages. The operation of these mechanisms is illustrated through an analysis of state agencies in Colombia and Peru.

Coronary artery disease involving chronic occlusions and bifurcation lesions continues to be a challenge for the interventional cardiologist. The improvement in the techniques has allowed a higher success rate, however, the best intervention strategy is unknown in this subgroup of patients with chronic occlusions and associated bifurcation lesions. We present the case of a patient in whom, in an angiography for study of chest pain, a chronic total occlusion and a bifurcation lesion were evidenced and were successfully treated by coronary intervention.

The Andean Community has as its ultimate goal the achievement of a common Latin American market, as stated in the Cartagena Agreement. To achieve this goal, in its more than fifty years of existence, various Decisions and Resolutions of supranational nature and mandatory compliance for its member countries have been issued on different matters; however, there are sectors in which there is still the need to regulate and strengthen cooperation ties. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the possibility of implementing judicial cooperation in criminal matters at the Andean level, taking various lessons learned from the European model and Mercosur; this in order to achieve deeper integration at the regional level.

The Iliad explains the foundations of western moral. It is not a simple text with a linear argumentation. Several lessons may be obtained from the book. Some teachings can be seen contradictory as the appraisal for courage and force while, at the same time, it does not dismiss the proper place of compassion and forgiveness. Its hero model does not seem to be a machine of war. This paper explores several dimensions of heroism to illustrate some lessons which can be valid in nowadays.
