We study a system formed by M dimers through half-filled two-site Hubbard model, with two electrons. Our approach use the third version of Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics as tool for calculating thermodynamic and magnetic parameters such as entropy, internal energy, magnetization and specific heat. In the computer simulations, we vary the q entropic index values between 1 and 2, such that, q = 1.0, 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0. These values are interesting to study small magnetic systems. We find the critical temperature regions in simulations with the simple Hubbard model, i.e. without the intersite interaction. For other side, adding this additional term, we notice an enlargement and shifting of the thermodynamic parameters comparing with the obtained from simple Hubbard model; even more, we found in some cases the absence of the critical temperature regions.

The search for microchannel wall modifications of simple use, that provide the desired functionality while the nonspecific adsorption is reduced to a mínimum, has allowed the development of new wall coatings. Specifically, the study of modifications that will enable to create robust microfluidic devices for the direct analysis of complex samples in which no sample pretreatment is required, are becoming a very important field of research, since they will allow microfluidic devices to become the analytical tool of choice for pharmaceutical and bioanalytical research fields.

The cryoprotectant effect of two hypertonic extenders (trehalose and lactose) on the post-thawing characteristics of ram semen (n=4) was evaluated. The extender composition included Tris 27.1 g/l, Citric acid 14.0 g/l, Fructose 10.0 g/l, Glycine 10.0 g/l, egg yolk 10.0% (v/v) and Glycerol 6.5% (v/v). Semen was collected in an artificial vagina. Seminal characteristics were: volume: 1.1 ± 0.1 ml, sperm concentration: 3.50 ± 0.1 x 109/ml, individual motility: 87.0 ± 2.4%, wave motility (scale 0-5): 4.4 ± 0.2, live sperms: 90.2 ± 3.8%, and abnormal sperms: 1.8 ± 0.7%. Semen was frozen in 0.5 ml straws and stored in liquid nitrogen. Straws were thawed after 3 months. Results of post-thawing evaluation were: individual motility: 40.3 ± 5.9 and 30.0 ± 5.0%, and live sperms: 34.4 ± 6.6 and 24.3 ± 5.0% for the Trehalose and Lactose extenders respectively. Extenders have been established as an alternative to compensate the antioxidant deficiencies of stallion semen during freezing. Several research works have aimed to evaluate the effect of various additives with antioxidant properties on the equine sperm cryotolerance; however, in limited occasions this has been linked with the extender total antioxidant capacity (TAC). This research aimed to evaluate the effect of two additives on freezing extender TAC and stallion semen cryotolerance. Se evaluó el efecto del contenido de materia grasa (%MG), en leche descremada UHT usada como diluyente seminal sobre la integridad de membrana plasmática y la motilidad progresiva (MP) de espermatozoides caninos preservados a 4 °C. Se obtuvieron 20 eyaculados mediante manipulación digital de 10 perros Bulldog Inglés y American Bully de fertilidad probada. Cada eyaculado fue evaluado a través de espermiograma convencional y de una prueba hipoosmótica simplificada (HOST-s). Las muestras fueron fraccionadas y diluidas en relación 1:3 con leche descremada UHT como diluyente a 0%MG y 0.5%MG, con adición de estreptomicina (50 mg/100 ml) y penicilina sódica (50 mg/100 ml).
