We study a system formed by M dimers through half-filled two-site Hubbard model, with two electrons. Our approach use the third version of Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics as tool for calculating thermodynamic and magnetic parameters such as entropy, internal energy, magnetization and specific heat. In the computer simulations, we vary the q entropic index values between 1 and 2, such that, q = 1.0, 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0. These values are interesting to study small magnetic systems. We find the critical temperature regions in simulations with the simple Hubbard model, i.e. without the intersite interaction. For other side, adding this additional term, we notice an enlargement and shifting of the thermodynamic parameters comparing with the obtained from simple Hubbard model; even more, we found in some cases the absence of the critical temperature regions.

The search for microchannel wall modifications of simple use, that provide the desired functionality while the nonspecific adsorption is reduced to a mínimum, has allowed the development of new wall coatings. Specifically, the study of modifications that will enable to create robust microfluidic devices for the direct analysis of complex samples in which no sample pretreatment is required, are becoming a very important field of research, since they will allow microfluidic devices to become the analytical tool of choice for pharmaceutical and bioanalytical research fields.

The cryoprotectant effect of two hypertonic extenders (trehalose and lactose) on the post-thawing characteristics of ram semen (n=4) was evaluated. The extender composition included Tris 27.1 g/l, Citric acid 14.0 g/l, Fructose 10.0 g/l, Glycine 10.0 g/l, egg yolk 10.0% (v/v) and Glycerol 6.5% (v/v). Semen was collected in an artificial vagina. Seminal characteristics were: volume: 1.1 ± 0.1 ml, sperm concentration: 3.50 ± 0.1 x 109/ml, individual motility: 87.0 ± 2.4%, wave motility (scale 0-5): 4.4 ± 0.2, live sperms: 90.2 ± 3.8%, and abnormal sperms: 1.8 ± 0.7%. Semen was frozen in 0.5 ml straws and stored in liquid nitrogen. Straws were thawed after 3 months. Results of post-thawing evaluation were: individual motility: 40.3 ± 5.9 and 30.0 ± 5.0%, and live sperms: 34.4 ± 6.6 and 24.3 ± 5.0% for the Trehalose and Lactose extenders respectively. Extenders have been established as an alternative to compensate the antioxidant deficiencies of stallion semen during freezing. Several research works have aimed to evaluate the effect of various additives with antioxidant properties on the equine sperm cryotolerance; however, in limited occasions this has been linked with the extender total antioxidant capacity (TAC). This research aimed to evaluate the effect of two additives on freezing extender TAC and stallion semen cryotolerance. Semen of five Colombian Creole horses was frozen in an extender under three treatments: T0: control, T1: quercetin 100 μM, T2: phosphates and carbonates (Na2HPO4 0.32 mg/ml + KH2PO4 0.67 mg/ml + K2CO3 0.39 mg/ml). The aim of this study was to evaluate sodium caseinate (CS) in the dilution and freezing of bovine semen. Fifteen ejaculates from five bulls were diluted and then individually frozen using a diluent composed of tris-glycerol-citric acid with 8% v/v of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and supplemented with CS in four treatments: CS 3% w/v (CS3), CS 4% w/v (CS4), CS 5% w/v (CS5) and without CS (Control). The mobility and kinetics (SCA® System) and the functional integrity of the membrane (HOS test) of the fresh, extended and thawed semen were evaluated. A literature review is presented on the effects of school day extension programs implemented in various Latin American countries. According to their objects of interest, the studies are grouped into four types of impacts: a) school performance, b) academic and career paths, c) labor, and d) school organization and culture. A predominance of quantitative evaluations that analyzed the results in Mathematics and Language were identified, thus it was considered pertinent to broaden the knowledge search proposed from the programs. Other studies identified positive impacts on students' trajectories and their household economy; however, these results still need to be strengthened through similar studies in other contexts, which also inquire about the factors that explain these causes. Lastly, future studies should consider the particularities of each program in the search for their effects.
