Human beings seek to build interpersonal relationships by nature, which has driven the rise of social networks in recent years. This article focuses on communicating the role of social networks in our daily lives and warns about the risks they pose to the construction of authentic interpersonal encounters, based on ethics, solidarity and empathy. Among the risks generated by the so-called “digital highways” are the reification of people, the denial of plurality, the digital divide between Internet users and social networks, the distortion of truth, superficiality, immediacy and the culture of anonymity. It is common for media messages to show the family since the crisis that this institution is experiencing. It is often conceived not as the place where the person is loved on his own, but as the "power struggles" between his members, especially between woman and man. With the documentary method - bibliographic study - of the conceptual analysis, this paper seeks to clarify some essential elements of the relationships within the family -in order to contribute to a better communication of the family reality- specifically those related to woman and man. The research systematized the development of pedagogical practice in the initial education career, during the first stage of the Covid-19 pandemic. For this purpose, a qualitative study was carried out, aligned to a design for the systematization of experiences method; reflecting on the evolution of the corresponding subject, with the participation of 23 students, each in charge of 20 children and their families (n = 460), with the guidance of the university professor. This article presents the results of a descriptive quantitative exploratory study conducted in the countries of Colombia and Ecuador to assess the degree of media competence of 146 journalists from the cities of Medellín (Colombia) and Loja (Ecuador). A self-administered questionnaire was applied, structured with nine sociodemographic questions, four on the generalities of the level of media competence and 24 evaluative distributed in the six dimensions of this type of competition with their respective indicators. The general results of low and medium-level competition obtained by this group of professionals demand priority interventions from local, regional and international works that mobilize scientific, academic and political cooperation to improve the performance of a population that should lead the general formation of the citizenship in media competitions.

How should we organize the teaching of the disciplines so that students make epistemic use of the writing tasks they are usually assigned? Among the different ways of teaching academic writing in higher education, this article discusses the interwoven approach, which consists of both teaching the disciplines with writing and teaching to write in an integrated way. We highlight its features and distinguish it from other approaches. We then illustrate it through the collaborative experience developed between an engineering instructor and a writing instructor over 18 months. This article focuses on the results of a research on the concept of critical reading of the media in school coursebooks from seventh grade in primary school to second grade in secondary school, by considering the point of view of the communication and educational areas. The aim is to know the concept of critical reading that is present in the coursebooks given by the Ministry of Education, in order to establish the levels of media alphabetization that are given by the several contents and activities inside the learning resources. The results indicates that the methodology proposed for the teaching of the media’s critical readings in coursebooks focuses on an education “through” the media, by emphasizing the functional and instrumental level of the media in all of the coursebooks that were analyzed.

Health Communication is a field of knowledge, which is in a growing and strengthening process at present. The aim of this article is to analyze three qualitative studies about communication and health articulations conducted in Buenos Aires, Argentina: to communicate a message of health promotion in a public hospital; to communicate public policies in the Ministry of Health, Argentina; and, finally, to communicate health news on the press. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with health care providers, decision makers and journalists, respectively. Findings show how Health Communication contributes to building citizenship and social participation.

El objetivo de la investigación fue reconocer y caracterizar las prácticas de liderazgo de tres directores de escuelas públicas peruanas durante la pandemia. La investigación tuvo un enfoque cualitativo, diseño no experimental y utilizó el método de estudio de casos. Empleó un muestreo no probabilístico intencional para la selección de participantes, entrevista semiestructurada para la recolección de datos; y el análisis temático cualitativo de los datos recogidos.
