This paper presents a study that aimed to determine the mechanism of a process for Cr(VI) removal from aqueous solutions, using compost of carnation crop residues as the adsorbent. We assessed whether the microbiota present in the absorbent material affected the removal of Cr(VI) using respirometric measurements and evaluating the removal capacity using sterilized and not sterilized compost. Additionally, the compost was analysed before and after carrying out the Cr(VI) removal process, by quantification of the acidic functional groups and kinetic monitoring of pH, conductivity and redox potential difference. A line balancing model for a tempered glass processing company was developed in this study, aimed at demonstrating how its implementation helps to improve productivity. The model is based on the development of the five steps of the theory of constraints (TOC): identify the constraint, exploit the constraint, subordinate everything to the constraint, elevate the constraint, and check if there is a new constraint. This research will serve as a precedent for other studies that aim to improve the production processes of textile and apparel companies by proposing a preventive solution for excess fabric waste that results from the production process. The study will also provide insights into reducing the amount of excess fabric waste in the marking and cutting areas via the manufacture of additional clothing items and accessories. Consequently, by efficiently allocating resources to make optimal use of seasonal material, costs can be reduced, ultimately leading to improved profitability for the textile knitwear company.

In this study, waste hairs of the enzymatic unhairing process (PPE) of tannery were used as adsorbents to remove lead of a solution. Waste hairs were treated with acid hydrolysis and used in the type batch adsorption experiments, to be examined the effect of pH on the adsorption and also to investigate the mechanism of adsorption for which studies adsorption isotherms and the adsorption kinetics of Pb (II) were performed on treated hairs. The results showed that adsorption of Pb (II) was pH dependent with the optimum pH of 7. Isotherm studies showed that experimental data match the pattern of the Langmuir isotherm for the case of treated hairs of the enzymatic unhairing process (PTPE). The aim is to contribute to a better knowledge of the application technique to reduce waste in process industries so that, through an analysis of their production data, the problems that prevent companies from being efficient are identified and, through the selection, development and implementation of the techniques of the Lean Manufacturing Methodology, SME can be oriented to carry out improvement actions in their production systems at a low cost.

El objetivo de esta tesis es la caracterización del funcionamiento hidrogeológico de la unidad minera Santa Rosa (UMSR). Para lograrlo se ha empleado información de cartografía geológica, hidrogeológica, datos mineros y diferentes mapas temáticos, así como mapas derivados obtenidos con técnicas geomáticas y modelos numéricos. En diferentes campañas de campo fueron inventariados 270 puntos de agua, cuatro tajos abiertos, dos tipos de residuos mineros en un área de 878 Ha. De acuerdo con los resultados en la UMSR se diferencian dos unidades acuíferas de importancia: acuífero fisurado formación Chimú y acuífero cárstico formación Inca Chulec. The aim of this thesis is hydro-geological characterized a Santa Rosa Mining District (SMD). Digital Elevation Model (DEM), geological cartography, hydrogeological, mine data and different thematic maps, generated with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and numerical models were used to characterize the hydrology of SMD. Remote sensing played a crucial role in the study by facilitating the collection of essential data for monitoring and creating interactive maps detailing the locations of open-air municipal solid waste landfills in the Tarata Province. This approach allowed for a comprehensive understanding of the distribution and characteristics of the landfills. Using ArcMap software, a comparison was conducted between the 2023 and 2016 data. The process involved the examination of satellite images and georeferenced records. Additionally, a set of orthophotos captured by a drone was integrated into the study.
