Cinchona officinalis, a native plant species known in Peru as the cinchona tree, has civic importance because it represents the plant wealth of this nation and medicinal importance since it was for more than 300 years the only cure for malaria, and is currently threatened. The aim was to determine the effect of light conditions on the percentage of mortality, height increase, and diameter increase of Cinchona officinalis. In the community of La Cascarilla (5°39’48.87 “S 78°54’35.24 “W), two treatments were installed, forest massif (FM) and enrichment bands (EB). For each treatment, three replicates and 16 plants per replicate were used. Monthly evaluations were carried out in which the number of dead plants, plant height, and diameter were recorded. These parameters were correlated with precipitation, temperature, and photoperiod records of the study area. The results showed th...

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought humanity a break that has produced changes in many areas, one of them having to replace real communication with online communication, that is, through the use of technological systems; This is because due to health measures, people remained confined to their homes, especially during the years 2020 and 2021, causing many activities such as education, professional, commercial and social relationships to be carried out through the use of the aforementioned technologies. Thus, naturally, given that we are in a new environment, in which the knowledge of emotional intelligence, its impact and potential in a physical space has not yet been fully explored, humanity has seen the need to ask itself what the emotional competencies would be, or if perhaps we have new forms, norms or behaviors to follow in a digital communication environment, understood as emotional ...

Unlike inert matter in equilibrium, active matter such as biological organisms are out of equilibrium generating motion and assemblies from molecular interactions and chemical reactions in the nano and micro-scale. In the past, such properties were considered to be exclusive of living systems, however, developments in colloidal science have enabled to produce synthetic analogues known as active colloids capable of emulating these properties. In this article, we first introduce active colloids and Janus particles, the most well studied examples of this scientific field. Then, we briefly present the common methods to synthesize these particles and the description of the mechanism of propulsion at the single colloid level. Besides, we describe how these particles generate collective behavior and assemblies in conditions out of equilibrium. Finally, we describe important characteristics of t...

This review article collects some of the main criticisms of nature conservation and contributes to the debate on its resignification in the light of biocultural rights to enrich its conceptual and operational framework expressed in the figure of protected areas. For this purpose, a bibliographic review is carried out complemented by the participation of the author in the process of updating the Master Plan of the System of Protected Areas of Peru. The review and reflection conclude that until now a neoliberal conservation approach has predominated, which in practice produces a series of environmental, social, institutional, legal, political, and economic impacts given the complex nature of protected areas. All this situation is evident in explicit or latent conflcts between protected areas and indigenous peoples. To overcome the confrontation, it is necessary to resignify the conservatio...

Objective: The present study aimed to analyze the evolution of the Ecuadorian automotive park between 2019 and 2023, considering the impact of economic, political, and technological factors on vehicle composition, emissions, and the need for balanced policies in Latin America. Materials and methods: An exploratory methodology based on secondary sources was employed, conducting a systematic review of official data on sales, origin, brand share, and fuel consumption in the light vehicle market in Ecuador. Results: The results obtained evidence a growing preference for sport utility vehicles, in contrast to a decline in demand for cars and trucks. Likewise, stands out the ascent of Asian brands, particularly Chinese ones, which have displaced traditional manufacturers such as Chevrolet. This tendency to been influenced by various factors, between the elimination of fuel subsidies and the in...

Peru is the second largest producer of asparagus, with a production of more than 366 thousand tons per year, its crops are developed mainly in La Libertad, Ica and Lima, its export is mainly to the United States, and in some European countries, also distributed to the domestic market, but during transport and storage problems have been identified that accelerates the expiration of asparagus to increase its high respiratory rate. Therefore, new methods are sought to preserve and delay the senescence of green asparagus, and the following objective of the light emitting diode (LED) that has effect on the photosynthesis of green asparagus Asparagus officinalis L. in the postharvest and if it would serve as a method of conservation. For the realization of this work, four experiments were carried out: A control group kept in total darkness and three other experimental groups that were exposed ...

The objective of this work is to demonstrate the need to carry out lighting studies for an efficient use of energy consumption through the appropriate choice of luminaires and their photometric distribution, and the benefits obtained as a result of an optimal lighting study. Due to the increasing importance of optimized lighting, it is important to show that the results can be further optimized. The analysis shows the results of software simulations with metal halide lamp luminaires and the LED equivalent. For the lighting of narrow areas, which is common in warehouses, it is taken as a case study the warehouses with racks and narrow aisles, the use of lighting in very important, having warehouses that can work 24 hours a day and 07 days a week. The vast majority of this type of facilities maintain the use of metal halide and the conventional optimization proposal is the change to LED, w...

Early childhood education centers are the first space that children inhabit after home and are an essential part of their development. In this sense, the research analyzed the relationship between the color temperature present in artificial lighting systems in early childhood education spaces and different areas of child development in children from 0 to 5 years old. With the aim of demonstrating that, through the control of color temperature in artificial lighting systems, various areas of child development can be stimulated. Criteria within the physical, cognitive, psychomotor and sensory development of early childhood children and the qualities of color temperature were analyzed. In this way, a proposal for dynamic lighting is proposed that stimulates areas of child development through light scenes. In this sense, artificial lighting becomes a resource that can be used to stimulate ac...

The article sets out that argentinean municipalities are legally banned from raising taxes, but are allowed to levy user charges for specific services. Nevertheless, such limitation is overlooked by the municipalities by means of introducing the “ability top ay” principle within the structure of the taxable base of said user charges. The author concludes that such mechanism distorts the user charge, altering its essence, with the result of transforming it into a mere tax, with the resulting violation of the current legislation. The author critically reviews argentinean case law that has given grounds to such a fiscal deviation and –in order to make his point- compares it with jurisprudence registered on this issue by the Supreme Courts of Peru, Brazil and Uruguay. Such comparison evidences that, if argentinean courts were to apply the criteria said of those Supreme Courts, al...

This study starts on the discussion about different ways of seeing. To remove the sense of sight out of the daily function to an aesthetic perception of reality, it presents contributions of authors as Merleau-Ponty (1992), Godard (2004), and Blanchot (2001). In a dialectic relation between see and create, it transforms distinct ways of seeing in an impulse to dance creation. The sight, considered through an esthetical and philosophical perspective, independently if it is a blind person or not, puts the creativity on movement. In this way, some experiments based on the relation between see and move, proposed by the author, are described along the text. The conclusion is that the way of seeing, that is to say, someone’s position in relation to the world, is what allows the creation, and not the physiological condition of sight’s sense.
