In Mexican literature, women are represented as protagonists, active, determined, free, transgressive and intellectual. She is also submissive, obedient and passive in her function as daughter, wife and mother, who complies with the figure of the angel of the home. In some works the corruption of the character is attributed to carelessness in education, personal circumstances or destiny. It is pertinent to analyze from the literary theory its physical profile, which constitutes an element for its degradation or an instrument of seduction, its moral and psychological portrait to conform a personality inclined toward honest or corrupt life.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a theoretical approach to the notion of political counter-narrative. Given the novelty of this narrative technique, its causes are first addressed: moral absolutism, affective polarization, informational chaos, uncertainty, and digital tribalism. Then, the counter-narrative is defined as a semantic structure that, regardless of temporality, seeks to destroy the symbolic capital of the adversary. Subsequently, its main features –reactivity, negativity, emotiveness, stereotyping, and permanence– are detailed, as are its functions –linking wills through opposition, drawing clear identity boundaries, being emotionally rewarding, and simplifying reality–. In closing, a review of the main findings is provided, and various lines of research are proposed, such as observing the resonance and application of this technique by citizens and the possibil...

This scientific research article seeks to verify if the resources of grotesque aesthetics enrich the analysis of the indigenist narrative with the purpose that these novels are no longer only valued as vehicles of denunciation, as they are usually catalogued, but also as artistic products. Based on an analysis of different theorists of the grotesque, this research proposed categories of analysis, such as narrative intrusions, animalization, the mixture of the heterogeneous, the disruption of reality, caricatures, allegories, and the utopian function. The used methods were the narratology, rhetoric and hermeneutics, procedures through which it was sought to demonstrate the hypothesis, taking as a sample, fragments of the novels Huasipungo by Jorge Icaza and El tungsteno by César Vallejo. The main result obtained shows that, in its essence, the grotesque aesthetic is very related to Latin...

In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational, and explanatory design was employed. The sample consisted of 96 adolescents between 12 and 15 years old from the state of Puebla, Mexico. A total of 10.41% of participants presented severe symptoms of generalized anxiety. A significant relationship was found between anxiety and one o...

In the present article, the function of colors in Beyghami DarabNameh has been investigated by descriptive-analytical method. The most frequent colors in this prose work are black and red; the main reason for this frequency is the epic content and the occurrence of successive wars. A common function seen in all colors is the descriptive aspect. In addition, the description of the biological and psychological conditions of the characters, the induction of inner emotions and objectification of abstract concepts has been done with the help of colors. In general, the colors used in DarabNameh are non-symbolic, explicit and direct, and lack multiple layers of meaning, which indicates the realistic and objectivist attitude of the author. The most important weakness of Beyghami in the field of storytelling, which is revealed by analyzing the pragmatics of colors, is the imbalance in its applica...

«Calixto Garmendia», a work by Ciro Alegría, is about social inequality. The protagonist not only fights for the legal system of the country to function as it should, but also for society as a whole to operate with a minimum of equity, because it is evident that, in the Peru of this novel and in that of his time, inequality is overwhelming. What is portrayed is a clear injustice that is seen in Peru, and from there one can see realities of the past that have not changed and that still hurt humanity. On the other hand, the role of literature as a critical element to be able to think about justice and human rights today is discussed. And, finally, the importance of literary narratives is highlighted, as a means to understand the social and legal reality of justice, and thus achieve a more just society.

Mining company towns are concrete sites where the spatial government of mining companies and its consequences can be studied. In this thesis I did a qualitative case study on the new mining company town Kalumbila based on three months of field work between June and September 2019. Kalumbila is being developed next to a copper mine owned by First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FQM) in the Northwestern Province of Zambia. It is a particularly interesting case to study, as it is presented as a model town, open to non-miner residents and investors and designed to be sustainable and outlive the mine’s lifespan. I analysed how FQM governs space and people in Kalumbila by examining the planning goals for the town, the access regime to town infrastructure and services, as well as the narratives and practices of residents. The analysis shows that there is a strong overlap between the work and private l...

This study delves into the chronicle-poetry of Mario Vargas Llosa, focusing on the poems “Padre Homero” and “Estatua viva.” Despite the rich complexity of his narrative, there is a gap in understanding how his poeticized chronicles serve as a confluence of urban echoes and popular characteristics, promoting the appropriation of both near and distant contexts. This research seeks to elucidate this intersection through the analysis of the mentioned poems using a qualitative methodology of discourse analysis. The analysis highlights the polysemy of everyday perception and identity memory in these texts, positioning Vargas Llosa as a keen observer who enriches his symbolic capital by integrating everyday knowledge into his literary canvas. The findings underscore the function of the poems as social practice, reflecting the formal and social properties of language. The study identifie...

Transmedia communication has achieved an important evolution and relevance in the last years, being considered by producers and organizations as a key strategy in the development of new projects, known through a diversity of media and platforms. At the same time, this process is influenced by a participative culture made up the prosumers. In this paper, we want to know how and what contribution brings the variety of media in the construction of transmedia worlds. Therefor it is planted as object of study the media ecosystem of Marvel´s Civil War; the comic began as a crossover and now it can be considered one of the transmedia storytelling more complete and complex cases in relation with the multiplicity of media involved.

This article proposes to analyze the representation of race, class and moral in television phenomena “Magaly TeVe” and “Al fondo hay sitio” from an anthropological glance of the television, and understanding their communicative, discursive and social dimensions. On one hand, after analyzing the discourse of “Magaly TeVe”, it was easy to see that the why and how the success of the communication strategy for this television phenomenon closely imposes moral and socially shared codes, and a configured mode of organization, relationship and interaction already validated in our social fabric. On the other hand, after analyzing the discourse of “Al fondo hay sitio”, it was easy to see that we have confused, naively, inclusion with redemption within a framework of convergence space-time of two contradictory cultural codes that permanently relate and interact from guidelines of ra...

Situated within the variationist sociolinguistic framework, in this paper we analyze the use of de repente as a marker that introduces complication or climax in a sample of 300 personal experience narratives (Labov y Waletzky 1967 y Labov 1972) of Santiago speakers. First, we establish the frequency of use of this particle. Then, we correlate the speakers’ sociodemographic factors with the use of this marker, and finally, we describe the functionality of this particle within the narratives that make up the sample. Our hypothesis was that the sociodemographic characteristics of Santiago Spanish speakers would be correlated with the use of de repente as a phrase that introduces complication or climax within the narrative. The data analysis shows that de repente was used a total of 100 times, of which 95 (95%) function in this manner, or as introducing the complicated action o...

The aim of the study was to analyze the role of folk art -music, singing, dance and musical instruments- and the socio-cultural power of the Indian in the narrative production of José María Arguedas. The approach -within the jargon of research typification that has been used- corresponded to the qualitative analysis of the information sources. For its development, the theoretical presuppositions of the literary hermeneutic methodology were used (Galván, l. 2008: 11), in its levels of analysis, interpretation and critical explanation. As a result, it has been verified that the Andean reality is a heterogeneous and contradictory contest, personalized by an alarming social inequality between two manifestly opposed forces: that of the boss and the legendary resistance of the Indian. The two coexist on the same stage but marked by an antagonistic social relationship: the boss as dominant a...
