The present paper is an approach to the construction, development and dissemination of gender roles (male and female) from the publicity established in Lima. This self-critical look at the advertising profession rather than blame wishes to describe a reality often ignored or filtered by various factors. It also proposes ways to deal with this problem facing its principal actors: Advertising, customers and especially teachers and students from different universities and institutes that apparently do not regard this as an important part of the training provided to new generations favoring perpetuation of stereotypical gender roles. For this article we have resorted to bibliographic research, analysis of advertisements and interviews with professionals who can provide different and complementary perspectives in order to understand this reality, seek consensus and pathways to a new approach ...

Interstitial Lung disease (ILD), produces disruption of alveolar walls with loss of functionality and accumulation of scar tissue. Asbestosis and silicosis are the ILD produced by the inhalation of asbestos fibers or silica particles respectively. An increase in prostacyclin release after exposing endothelial cells to asbestos has been reported. This study attempts to elucidate the role of lung epithelial cells in the generation of asbestos induced ILD. A cell model to study crocidolite-induced toxicity was developed using LA-4 cells, previously characterized as alveolar type II cells. LA-4 cells when exposed to crocidolite had a decrease in viability and an increase in the release of LDH and 6-keto PGF1α, a prostacyclin metabolite. Prostacyclin release was Cox 2 and vitronectin receptor (VNR) mediated. Coating crocidolite asbestos with vitronectin enhances its internalization via VNR, ...

In the face of a conflict, citizens can follow different ways to solve it. But, how justice is configurated in the conclusion of a specific conflict? what guarantee that the procedure of the mechanism is fair? We can think here in the due process of law; nevertheless, due process of law does not reach all mechanisms of conflict resolution. This paper, therefore, focuses in the study of the role of justice in (i) the procedural scope of judicial process and ADR mechanisms; and in (ii) the conflict resolution generated by them.

Social innovation is recognized by multilateral organizations as a way to cope creatively and collaboratively with social demands that are not satisfied, neither from the public nor from the private. This challenge requires management reliable relationship between actors with diverse and sometimes conflicting interests. In this sense, the social function of public relations (PR) can provide an important service to prevent resistance to social changes that involve innovation processes. The literature consulted shows that theorizations on social innovation, recommend cultivating relational capital and theories and models PR provide methods and techniques to reliably achieve said capital. A documentary investigation and a case study based on the participatory-action-research that is the basis of a theoretical prot-model ofintervention of reliable PR in social innovation processes. It’s a ...

This paper highlights the value of collectors in the reconstruction of the history of Peruvian sports and, in this case, of a soccer team. It is affirmed, on the one hand, that a collection fulfills a function similar to that of a documentary archive and, on the other hand, that it possesses heterodox and unpublished sources for the reconstruction of history. The essay discusses and showcases the work of four collectors in Peru. The description of their collections is parallel to theoretical counterpoints in order to show new ways to investigate the past.

Obesity contributes directly to dyslipidaemia due to various factors, one of which has been little studied: magnesium deficiency in obese people may be caused by a deficiency in magnesium intake. Hypomagnesaemia leads to various alterations such as: a diversion of the glucose pathway towards an increase in lipids, oxidative stress, an indirect activation of the NF-κB pathway resulting in insulin resistance and an increase in cholesterol. Research has shown an inverse relationship between magnesium levels and obesity. We conclude that hypomagnesaemia leads to insulin resistance and dyslipidaemias.

This paper explores Plotinus’ methodological approach considering the practical perspective of his philosophy. According to Plotinus, there is something in us that is permanently oriented towards the intelligible realm (En. IV 8. 8. 5). Contemplation is a continual activity for the soul. We do not cease to contemplate; our being and our individuality depend on it. However, this activity often goes unnoticed (En. I 1. 11. 9). The possibility of becoming aware of it opens up a complex and challenging itinerary of philosophical exercise, present in the whole Platonic tradition. This paper will examine the various paths designed to facilitate contemplation, as well as the roles of imagination and memory in these processes.

Aortic stenosis is associated with aortic plaques in up to 85% of cases because they share risk factors and pathogenic pathways. Intrinsically, complex aortic plaques carry a high risk of stroke, which has also been demonstrated in the context of aortic stenosis, especially in patients who underwent percutaneous or surgical replacement. Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is the imaging test of choice to detect plaques in the thoracic aorta and classify them as complex plaques. Furthermore, the 3D modality allows us to better specify its dimensions and anatomical characteristics, such as added thrombi or the presence of ulcers inside. This review aims to evaluate the use of TEE to detect complex aortic plaques in patients with an indication for percutaneous or surgical aortic valve replacement. To highlight the association between aortic stenosis and complex aortic plaques, we attache...

Although the cabildo was a key institution in the conquest of America, the role it played in the various regions of the continent before the establishment of royal power is not known in detail. This article argues that the establishment of cabildos during the conquest of the Inca Empire allowed the creation of a local Hispanic political space, which enabled the establishment of colonial Peru’s first administrative and government structure. By facilitating the early negotiation and distribution of territorial resources, the institution reduced tensions among members of the expedition and thus provided stability to this first order, even in places that resisted direct control by the current governor. The various leaders of conquest sought to dominate this first order via the cabildos, and to maintain it against the onslaught of their rivals an...

COVID-19 is a currently pandemic disease that worries professionals in all areas of the Health Sciences. Current literature indicates that certain components of the stomatognathic system (such as lips, oral mucosa, tongue, and tonsils) express ACE2 receptors, responsible for the binding of SARS-CoV-2 to the human cell. This expression has a big impact on organular compromise, turning the oral cavity not only into an important route of viral entry but also into a region with the possibility of various manifestations such as xerostomia, halitosis, chemosensory alteration, opportunistic coinfection, and mucosal lesions. The fact that mouth manifestations are reported in the early stages of this disease suggests a possible predictive nature, which would make them very useful for diagnostic referral. In this sense, it is important that the dental professional knows how to recognize this early...

Introduction: Chronic lung disease's feature is pathological angiogenesis, a still little understood process in this and other diseases. Recently adenosine, a signaling molecule, and chemokines have been considered regulators of this process. Though, relationship between these factors has not been investigated. Objective: To determine the role of adenosine in the induction of angiogenesis during pulmonary chronic inflammation. Design: Experimental. Setting: Bioterio, Immunology Research Group, Facultad de Medicina, Universidad Nacional de San Agustin, Arequipa, Peru, and Biomedical Research Institute, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Biologic material: C57BL/6J adenosine deaminase (ADA)-deficient mice. Methods and interventions: By morphometric analysis we determined relationship between adenosine levels in lung and tracheal angiogenesis, and expression to CXCL1 and its receptor ...
