Introduction: Chronic lung disease's feature is pathological angiogenesis, a still little understood process in this and other diseases. Recently adenosine, a signaling molecule, and chemokines have been considered regulators of this process. Though, relationship between these factors has not been investigated. Objective: To determine the role of adenosine in the induction of angiogenesis during pulmonary chronic inflammation. Design: Experimental. Setting: Bioterio, Immunology Research Group, Facultad de Medicina, Universidad Nacional de San Agustin, Arequipa, Peru, and Biomedical Research Institute, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.
