Talides basistrigata Eaton, 1932, originally described from Peru, was subsequently transferred to the genus Hylephila Billberg, 1820 by Evans (1955) and considered a subspecies of H. phyleus (Drury, 1773), arguing that basistrigata inhabits drier environments than phyleus. Currently, the taxonomic status proposed by Evans is retained. The aim of this study is to reinstate the taxonomic status of valid species for basistrigata based on an integrative analysis considering morphological, ecological, and genetic aspects. Genitalic structures were examined in specimens of both basistrigata and phyleus, mitochondrial COI gene sequences were obtained for both species, and field data were collected to understand their oviposition behaviour in the vicinity of Arequipa city, southwestern Peru. As a result of the morphological examination, notable differences were found between the male genitalia s...

From the fields of gender studies and anthropology, this interdisciplinary study analyzes the racist experiences lived by immigrant Latin American women in Spain, which influence the adherence of the subjects to cultural assimilation techniques. Assimilation is an acculturation strategy where individuals reject the culture of origin in an attempt to fully incorporate themselves into the culture of the host society. Rejecting the Latin American culture through practices and discourses is a way of protecting oneself against the systematic racism experienced in the European territory, as well as a way of getting closer to the white privilege of natives. The methodology used has been qualitative through an intersectional analysis with a gender perspective of semi-structured individual interviews carried out with ten Latin American women ...

The effect of two semen extenders: Glucose Tris and Ovine Freezing Buffer (UA 466/ 005238) on the motility and cytoplasmic membrane integrity of spermatozoa during the freezing process was evaluated. Five rams (2 Assaf, 2 Cinnamon and 1 Black Belly) were used. The fresh semen was of good quality and values of seminal characteristics were within the normal range for this species. The Progressive Individual Motility of the refrigerated semen was 86.0 ± 2.48 and 88.5 ± 4.8% and for frozen semen was 60.8 ± 1.9 and 62.9 ± 2.4% for Tris and Ovine Freezing, respectively; while the proportion of spermatozoa with intact membranes, evaluated by HOST (Hipo Osmotic Swelling Test), was 77.9 ± 4.8 and 78.9 ± 4.0% for refrigerated semen and 39.9 ± 3.6 and 43.2 ± 2.9% for frozen semen using the Tris and Ovine Freezing dilutors, respectively. There were highly significant differences between dilu...

This article addresses the significance of the recent global trend toward liberalization of foreign direct investment (FDI), showing the importance of Latin America in the process and analyzing the regulation of FDI in three countries (Brazil, Chile, and Peru) and one integration movement (the Andean Group) of the region. The evolution of these four FDI regimes, from the 1970s to 1996, reflects the great changes in economic policy that have taken place in Latin America. After presenting some theoretical background concerning levels of FDI regulation in the world economy, the main aspects of the national regulation of FDI, and traditional conflict issues between multinational enterprises and host governments, the author proceeds to outline, on the one hand, the rise and fall of economic nationalism in Latin America (between 1970 and the mid-1980s), and, on the other, the central tenets...

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in people’s lifestyles, with the educational sector being one of the most reliant on technology to facilitate the teaching and learning process. In this literature review, a search for articles related to the metaverse in education, published in 2022 and 2023, has been conducted across six databases: Scopus, EBSCO Host, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis Online, IEEE Xplore, and Springer. The PRISMA methodology was used to analyze and systematize the manuscripts found. The aim of this research was to examine how integrating the metaverse into education can enhance educational accessibility and equity by enabling students to utilize virtual learning resources and opportunities. In addition, they can engage in interactions with others to learn and create interactive content during the teaching and learning process. This requires a ...

Studies on parasites are essential tools for understanding the ecological dynamics of variations in population abundance, structural changes in communities, and the coevolutionary processes of their hosts. They play a fundamental role in modulating biodiversity and serve as excellent models for studying host-parasite relationships. In this context, we used samples collected in species surveys in four protected areas to describe the endoparasite communities of Enyalius bibroniiBoulenger, 1885 (Squamata: Leiosauridae) in the Caatinga domain of northeastern Brazil and investigated the factors that influence the composition of these communities. We analyzed 166 specimens of E. bibronii. The composition of endoparasites varied between sampling sites, but we identified six parasitic species, with Physaloptera lutzi Cristófaro, Guimaraes & Rodrigues, 1976 and Parapharyngodon alvarengai Fre...
