The article explores one of the aspects of Heidegger's existential analytic – everyday dealings with ready-to-hand equipment (tools). The author’s aim is to analyze the phenomenon of equipment in a broader perspective to widen the borders of everyday being-in-the-world characterized by routine nonthematic dealings with things that distract man from his true being. The author claims that in everyday use man discovers only functionality of equipment which cannot be considered its genuine grasp. The actual knowledge of things is accessible mainly to their creators for whom they are not ready-to-hand tools but the aim of their thematic investigative thought. The concrete notion of a thing is developed by those who know the origin and formation of things. Accordingly, Dasein’s everyday concern for the world is not the primary mode of being-in-the-world. The primary one is the master's n...

The objective of this research was to analyze the psychometric properties of the workload scale in Ecuadorian teachers. An instrumental design study was developed where data from 304 teachers of both sexes whose ages ranged from 20 to 60 years were analyzed. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the internal structure of the workload scale is satisfactory ((χ2 = 28,147, df = 9, p = 0.01; CFI = 0.958; TLI = 0.931 and RMSEA = 0.080), evidence of convergent and discriminant validity was reached. Reliability is acceptable (α > 0.8). It is concluded that the workload scale in Ecuadorian teachers is a valid and reliable brief measure.

It is often attributed to Aquinas the thesis that existence, unlike essence, cannot be the object of conceptualization. Arguably, without a concept of existence, Aquinas  offers an interpretation of existential propositions which closely resemble the modern analytic analysis. Accordingly, when wesay ‘P exists’, we attribute no property or special attribute to P. The purpose of this article is to show that for Thomas Aquinas, existence, like essence, can be the object of conceptualization nd functions as a real predicate. To that end, I base myself on Aquinas’ theory of signification.

“The Origin of Culture in Kant. The Hiatus Between Life and Morality”. This paper attempts to investigate the meaning and function that culture plays as an existential activity in the work of Kant, driving special attention to the Critique of Judgment and to the materials furnished by the Anthropology from a pragmatic point of view, having as key goal the survey of its anthropological and social sources. From this perspective, I intend first to argue that the Kantian analysis of life and the intrinsic nihilism recognized in it largely explain the origin of the concept of culture in Kant, basically understood as a set of practices that allow human beings to extract some teleological performance from time passing. Secondly, I will discuss the phenomenon of entertainment as an anthropological key subject to deepen in the necessity of the advent of culture in human society. Both p...

This paper is an analysis of human communication from the concepts of "egocentrism" and altruism", concepts derived from the basic dynamism inherent to behavior functioning. A person, from its own ontologica structure is necessarily and existentially induced to gradually contemplate, understand and internalize its own the reality and reality of others. Thus the constant, intense and simultaneo us presence of two tendencies: "self-retreat" and self-transcendence". The elaboration of those lines of dynamic orientacion are approached in their defensive cannotations. Finally, the autor discusses the essential implications of a genuine altruistic attitude of the subject in relation to others.
