Remote sensing is the technology that has enabled us to obtain information about the Earth's surface without directly contacting it. For this reason, currently, the Bolivian state has considered a list of interesting applications of remote sensing in the country, including the following: biodiversity and environment monitoring, mining and geology, epidemiology, agriculture, water resources and land use planning. The use of satellite images has become a great tool for epidemiology because with this technological advance we can determine the environment in which transmission occurs, the distribution of the disease and its evolution over time. In that context, one of the important diseases related to public health in Bolivia is Chagas disease, also known as South American Trypanosomiasis. Chagas is caused by a blood-sucking bug or Vinchuca, which causes serious intestinal and heart long ter...

In this article, the existing relationship between the elements that compose the structure of a research: question, hypotheses, objectives and statistical analyses are analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the interrelation that each of these elements must possess, which become the foundation of each phase that is being built in an investigation. When talking about the research question, mention is made of the scientific question that arises after having identified a gap in a line of research. The next element into consideration are the hypotheses, this article deep into the hypotheses of descriptive type, correlation, comparison of groups, causality and intervention. When comes to talk about the research objectives, there will be mentioned thedegree of complexity of each verb that must be used according to the statistical analyses that will be conducted. The...

Recent studies have shown that there are several programming techniques such as object oriented programming, aspect‐ oriented programming and programming targeted agents, and the creation of the data model are also techniques such as database connection object‐oriented entity, The this research aims to develop a web development technique based on database modeling object‐oriented model using entity relationship. This research describes the professional profile of journalists who work in newsrooms that are pioneers in data analysis in Peru: Ojo Público and Convoca, as native digital media, and El Comercio Data and La República Data, as part of traditional media. To achieve this objective, and through a mixed approach, their bosses, coordinators or directors are interviewed, and questionnaires are applied to the journalists who work in them. The results show that journalists follow the methodology of data journalism, consisting of seven work phases: compile, clean, context, combine, analysis, verification and communication of data, and using technological tools in each of them with a skill level that is primarily not expert. In addition, most of their knowledge was self-taught, thus evidencing a lack of specialization in data journalism in the Peruvian higher education.

This paper focus the problem related to the scientific character of the prospective, especially in its study object, so the problem is: Is the prospective a science?. The answer of this problem it is planted in three parts: first a short review by the origins of the futurology, then the future conception to the prospective and at the end it focus in its study object; everything based in a bibliographic research.

Language identification is an elemental task in natural language processing, where corpus-based methods reign the state-of-the-art results in multi-lingual setups. However, there is a need to extend this application to other scenarios with scarce data and multiple classes to face, analyzing which of the most well-known methods is the best fit. In this way, Peru offers a great challenge as a multi-cultural and linguistic country. Therefore, this study focuses in three steps: (1) to build from scratch a digital annotated corpus for 49 Peruvian indigenous languages and dialects, (2) to fit both standard and deep learning approaches for language identification, and (3) to statistically compare the results obtained. The standard model outperforms the deep learning one as it was expected, with 95.9% in average precision, and both corpus and model will be advantageous inputs for more complex ta...

Over the last years, Convolutional Neural Networks have been extensively used for solving problems such as image classification, object segmentation, and object detection. However, deep neural networks require a great deal of data correctly labeled in order to perform properly. Generally, generation and labeling processes are carried out by recruiting people to label the data manually. To overcome this problem, many researchers have studied the use of data generated automatically by a renderer. To the best of our knowledge, most of this research was conducted for general-purpose domains but not for specific ones. This paper presents a methodology to generate synthetic data and train a deep learning model for the segmentation of pieces of machinery. For doing so, we built a computer graphics synthetic 3D scenery with the 3D models of real pieces of machinery for rendering and capturing vi...

Background: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is an auto-inflammatory liver disease of children and adults, affecting patients of any age, sex, race or ethnicity, with more prevalence in females. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical manifestation, laboratory findings, and outcome of children with autoimmune hepatitis. Materials and methods: We evaluated 86 patients treated and followed with final diagnosis of AIH between years 2010 to 2018. Physical findings (including jaundice, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly and encephalopathy), liver enzymes, liver histology and autoantibodies (including ANA, Anti LKM-1 and ASMA) were extracted from medical files. Then the patients were followed for their final outcome (including response to medical treatment or successful treatment withdrawal, liver transplantation or death). Results: Among 86 patients with AIH with mean age 9.10±4.36 years...

The layered architecture of the World Wide Web (W3C) defines standards, technologies, languages, and methods needed to build applications that involve the semantic web. From this W3C semantic web architecture was developed the data modeling of the ELLAS (Equality in Leadership for Latin American STEM) network platform. The ELLAS aims to map the policies and context aspects that influence women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the countries of Bolivia, Brazil and Peru, which are at different levels of development. The main objective of this work is a comparison of the main storage and semantic integration tools to develop a data model (modeling, storage and integration of data) related to the mapping of policies, initiatives and factors that influence the career development of women in STEM.

This paper proposes and illustrates the use of the French version of the multidimensional data analysis (MDA) as an alternative approach for analyzing quantitative data in social sciences, particularly in psychology. To that end, we revisited a previous research which analyzed children’s peer collaboration in a task involving building a house with construction blocks in two socioeconomic contexts (SEC): advantaged socioeconomic context (ASC) and disadvantaged socioeconomic context (DSC). The social modality of task execution and the types of message were analyzed. The results from the ASC (associated with explicit cooperation and collaboration) were contrary to those of the DSC (linked to implicit cooperation). These results are consistent with those from previous studies, for both SECs register similar levels of social coordination, but the specific interaction modality is different. ...

Objective: This cross-sectional study evaluated the frequency of adherence to sharing dental research data over the last ten years (2013-2023). Methods: Data was obtained by searching the articles published in the five high-impact factor multidisciplinary journals in Dentistry, Oral Surgery & Medicine. A total of 300 dental articles published in three time periods (2013/2018/2023) were randomly selected (n=900). Two researchers performed the study selection and extracted the data. T he main outcome was data sharing (yes/no). Comparative evaluation of data sharing distribution was performed with the Chi-square test and the contribution of variables on the data sharing with adjusted logistic regression. Results: Of the total studies included (n=900), only 20 records reported data sharing practices (data sharing prevalence: 2.2%). A significantly higher prevalence of data sharing was id...
