How do we understand? A pivot proposalThe basic question is what it is needed to understand. The proposal is that understanding requires pivots, a useful word to integrate findings in different areas. In that sense, a pivot can be understood as a mental model. It can also be the body, an idea based on embodied cognition. But more fundamentally, our biology and brain are the central pivots for understanding. Therefore, this essay can be seen as a brief travel through three different subjects: Mental Models, Embodied Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience, all of which are necessary to understand how a person understands.

Founders play an essential role in entrepreneurial decision-making not only because they are sometimes the only human resource that a new venture has, but also because founders often feel personally responsible for the new venture. Consequently, entrepreneurs’ cognitive-affective attributes, biases, background, and psychological well-being affect risk perceptions, preferences, decisions, and firm performance. In the last years, because of the variety of industrial applications of the tara`s fruit (the shell and the seeds can be processed to obtain a lot of products), the interest on cultivate tara using correct techniques is enhanced. This project of forestation with tara is carried out in Cajamarca Department (years 2008-2009), San Juan district, Cachilgon country house, which population has 40% of adults without instruction. They are dedicated to the foodstuffs agriculture and earn money with recolectation of the fruit of the tara, where the tara grows as a wild tree. To show to the population the facility of handling the agriculture of the tara and its economical profitability, it has being develop this pilot project of forestation with 1 546 tree of tara, which requires an initial investment of 12 243 peruvian soles, an annual referential cost of 4 720 peruvian soles and recover all the i...

The study is about the construction of a prototype from flotation cell pilot “San Marcos” to pilot level, for develop this the next activities has been performed: confection of planes from machine organs including necessary cuts, preparation of molds for fuse the pieces and other parts, assembly the flotation equipment, Install the cell in the circuits from pilot plant, and prove the suitable functioning for the equipment.

Vinegar has been elaborated from apple juice by inmersed fermentation at room temperature. The process was developed in two stages, firstly, the alcoholic termentation was carried out using Saccharomyces Cerevísíae yeast, Ellipsoideus variety. Secondly, an acetic fermentation was carried out using acetobacter. The global yield of the process, based on row material usage was around 52%. The product obtained has an acidity of 6,8% in acetic acid and fulfill the market requirements.

On December 4, 1999, in the city of Sicuani, province of Canchis, the "Regional meeting on the high school pilot plan" was held, in compliance with the commitment to action assumed by the Board of Education in the Social Week of the South Andean , which consists of giving critical follow-up to the pilot experience of the high school. El presente informe tiene como principal objetivo analizar los sistemas de riego de Goteo y aspersión tipo Pivot a nivel agronómico, hidráulico y financiero, este análisis se evaluó en el cultivo de la caña de azúcar, cuya productividad se evidencia más en los últimos años en Perú, planteando la necesidad de un análisis en los manejos del recurso hídrico, como de fertilización, entre otros factores que influyen en la producción, mediante la inserción de las recientes tecnologías en los riegos de alta eficiencia. En el presente documento se describe el plan de trabajo que se llevó a cabo en la empresa Rímac Seguros y cuyo objetivo fue disminuir los tiempos involucrados en el proceso de habilitación de contingencia de una aplicación que es utilizada por el área de Central de Emergencias y que tiene por nombre Pivotal. Dentro del plan se contempló un análisis de la infraestructura actual y de los procesos de usuarios y desencadenó en la optimización del componente de base de datos de la aplicación. La mejora conseguida se resume en la optimización de la infraestructura de continuidad de negocios a través de una tecnología robusta de recuperación ante desastres para base de datos y que permite habilitar el ambiente de contingencia en un tiempo promedio de 30 minutos superando las 4 horas que tuvo inicialmente el cliente.
