Almost all colonial documentation of Mesoamerican languages was written on discursive models of European inspiration. In order to understand the relationship between the American languages and these models (or Discursive Traditions), and also to understand the theoretical implications, we made an analysis centered on the testamentary tradition to investigate the way these documents were translated to the sixteenth Century Nahuatl language. Uno de los desafíos más grandes que enfrenta la comunidad eclesial en nuestro tiempo es el de la pérdida de identidad, no sólo en sí misma como conjunto, sino también en sus diferentes estamentos y en la individualidad de muchos de sus hijos. Partiendo de este hecho, la hipótesis de trabajo que planteamos en este estudio es que el Papa Pablo VI percibió esta realidad y quiso alentar a la comunidad eclesial a una toma de conciencia de sí.
