Between 1810 and 1824 the Spanish Antilles witnessed the beginning, maturation and culmination of Independence in the continental American territories, while Spain—beginning with the French invasion of the Iberian Peninsula in 1808—lived through its first two experiences with Liberalism. Neither of these historical developments would have been possible without the subversion of the absolute monarchy—at that time in the person of Fernando VII—, the consequences of which were perceived in the islands. After the restoration of absolutism, emerging voices in Cuba tried to adapt inquisitorial structures to the new reality that, imposed by external events, conditioned the development and effective action of the Inquisition on the islands. Introduction: Religious and spiritual struggles (RSS) are psychological conflicts related to an individuals relationship with the divine, supernatural entities, or religious beliefs and communities. These struggles can cause emotional distress and negatively impact mental health. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between different dimensions of RSS and mental health indicators among adults residing in Puerto Rico. Method: A correlational design was used with a convenience sample of 250 adult participants. Validated instruments were administered to assess religious and spiritual struggles, depression, anxiety, and flourishing. Introduction: The Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES-II) is a widely used psychometric tool to assess dissociative symptoms. Over the years, it has been the subject of numerous studies and research in various fields of psychology and psychiatry. Numerous studies have supported the validity and reliability of the DES-II as a reliable measure of dissociative experiences. The most problematic aspect of the DES-II is the inconsistency in its factor structure. Se presente el ambiente computacional interactivo RAIN_PROC (Procesamiento de lluvias por sus siglas en inglés) para el análisis, comparación y visualización de datos de precipitación. Se emplearon técnicas de visualización para representar las observaciones del sistema NEXRAD, de medidores de lluvia y del satélite TRMM-PR. Se desarrollaron algoritmos para análisis estadísticos, estimación de la relación Z-R usando regresiones lineales, para operar, asimilar e integrar los datos. Se han procesado datos correspondientes al otoño y verano de 1998 y 1999, respectivamente, de NEXRAD y de medidores de lluvia usando RAIN_PROC. The main objective of the research was to auscultate if the employees of companies use social network, if they have an addiction to technology, and how they use the internet during their working hours using a quantitative methodology with a Cross-sectional and descriptive approach. In order to measure the addiction to social networks, the instrument used was the Social Network Addiction Questionnaire (ARS) designed by Miguel Escurra Mayaute and Edwin Salas Blas (2014). 100 questionnaires were administrated. Podcasting is torn between enabling participatory cultures thanks to the personal and cultural expression of independent podcasters, or being an industry promoted by the journalistic media and the “platform” of the communication market. The case of the sociocultural context of Puerto Rico also faces this issue, and it is of interest to identify the stable and regular offer of native podcasts made by the independent podcasting sectors and the journalistic industry. Currently, not much has been written about the empirical psychological well-being of the atheist community in Puerto Rico and Latin America. The objective of the present study is to analyze if there are statistically significant differences in the levels of life satisfaction and psychological flourishing between believers in God and self-identified atheists. For this purpose, a sample of 821 participants (415 believers and 406 atheists) ranging from the ages of 19 to 85 years was selected. The results show that there is a slight average difference regarding life satisfaction and psychological flourishing between these groups; however, the difference is not substantial enough to ensure that believers in God or atheists have a better quality of life. En este avance de investigación proponemos- este servidor en co-autoría con los doctores Manuel Maldonado Rivera y Waldemiro Vélez Cardona- una reflexión organizada en siete hitos, mismos que nos ayudan a evaluar, críticamente, los procesos de cambio más significativos que se han desarrollado en la relativamente larga existencia de la FEG3. Reconocemos -de entrada- lo contingente y debatible que viene a ser el establecer periodizaciones en las que exista consenso sobre la fecha de inicio o la de cierre. Siendo muy cautelosos proponemos una primera aproximación perfectible, preliminar y dúctil. En tanto, hemos decidido valernos de unos criterios heurísticos que nos permitan presentar al menos una sólida justificación de la opción temporal que estamos privilegiando.

Ricardo Palma y Lola Rodríguez fueron dos intelectuales representativos del Perú y Puerto Rico. Ellos establecieron una amistad epistolar y se conocieron personalmente. La correspondencia sostenida entre ambos permite conocer los afectos, los odios, las filiaciones literaria y políticas. Pero, basicamente, establecieron un diálogo ejemplar acerca de la libertad y la democracia de ambas islas (Puerto Rico y Cuba) que se lograron gracias a la acción revolucionaria de sus lideres y masas.

Introducción: El discrimen es una o más conductas negativas injustificadas hacia una persona basadas en una o varias características de ésta. Tal es el caso de las personas lesbianas, gays y bisexuales (LGB) han sido víctimas constantes de estereotipos, prejuicios y discrimen alrededor del mundo. No obstante, son pocos los estudios científicos que exploran las experiencias de discrimen en Puerto Rico, debido a que la mayoría de los estudios se han enfocado en las actitudes negativas, el prejuicio y la distancia social. El presente estudio es de diseño de una sola casilla, tuvo por objetivo describirlos Determinantes de la Salud de la Persona Adulta de la Caleta Puerto Rico, Bayovar- Sechura, 2015.Lamuestra estuvo conformada por 257personas adultas. El instrumento de recolección de datos fue el Cuestionario sobre determinantes de la salud. Concluyéndose: según los determinantes biosocioeconómicos: que la mayoría de los adultos entrevistados son de sexo femenino, adultas maduras, más de la mitad tienen grado de instrucción secundaria completa e incompleta, con ingreso económico menor de 750 soles mensuales y la mitad con un trabajo eventual. El presente proyecto tiene como objetivo principal desarrollar el levantamiento de información para la red de FTTH en el C.P. Puerto Rico, San Martín, se realizó a mano alzada siguiendo los criterios, como son; levantamiento de infraestructura (predial, comercial, postería existente y a proyectar, actualización y nombres de vías de acceso, nombres de urbanizaciones o manzanas); como también la utilización de herramienta digital (odómetro); el software (Google Earth) para la georreferenciación.
