description Las empresas prestadoras de servicios de agua potable y alcantarillado sanitario centran la atención principal a los servicios brindados para llevar a cabo la misión como tal, sin embargo, se olvidan de los factores relacionados con las actividades de apoyo las cuales en su particularidad se trabajaron en esta investigación siendo las áreas de transportes y los procesos administrativos logísticos objeto de estudio, las cuales son de real importancia para el cumplimiento de metas institucionales, porque estas áreas de apoyo generan un sobrecosto significativo y por ello en el presente trabajo se buscó una reducción de los mismos al aplicar las herramientas de ingeniería industrial como son el Mantenimiento Productivo Total, 5S, Outsourcing, en la propuesta de mejora del área de transportes y logística.
