Los resultados evidenciaron que la feminidad se encontraba más allá de la pérdida del seno ya que cuando son sometidas a la mastectomía si bien no genera la pérdida de la feminidad, las entrevistadas se vieron forzadas a resignificarse como mujeres. Se halló como ellas atravesaron por emociones de tristeza y temor obteniendo más consciencia de la fragilidad sobre el sentido de mortalidad. Finalmente, las participantes superan la enfermedad llevándose un aprendizaje valorativo sobre vivir una versión más completa de sí mismas.

For this purpose, a qualitative research was conducted with a phenomenological-hermeneutical design, nine interviews. The results affirm that femininity is beyond the loss of the breast. The results presented that the meaning of femininity is beyond a lost breast, even if they had undergone a mastectomy, they do not lose their femininity, the participants were forced to resignify themselves as women. It was found that interviewees went through emotions of sadness and fear, obtaining more awareness of the fragility about the sense of mortality.
