Actualmente la ONU le ha otorgado a la capital la definición de megaciudad debido a los más de 10 millones de habitantes que posee. Sin embargo, con este título también se hacen más notorias las carencias que posee. La falta de planificación en una ciudad que continua en crecimiento demográfico y geográfico (300m2 en 1940 y 2800 m2 en el 2004) es una de ellas y ha generado deficiencias en su infraestructura. Una de las más notorias se ve reflejada en el sector transporte. La proliferación de terminales terrestres ya sean informales o formales sin estar concebidas dentro de un plan de desarrollo urbano es una consecuencia directa a esta falta de planificación. Estas terminales están aglomeradas en puntos críticos de Lima dentro del casco urbano. Es por ello que se plantea el proyecto de un gran terminal terrestre en Lima este, la cual estará atada al Plan urbano de Lima con el objetivo de dotar a las terminales de infraestructura necesaria para mejorar el servicio de transporte. Para ello se analizará la problemática con argumentos que justificarán la elección de la tipología, así como aspectos generales como geográficos, ambientales y de influencia en la zona.

This centralization has led to a significant increase in the number of inhabitants of the city of Lima from 660,000 in 1940 to 8 million in 2004. Currently the UN has given the capital the definition of a mega-city due to the more than 10 million inhabitants it has. However, with this title, the city's shortcomings are also more evident. The lack of planning in a city that continues to grow demographically and geographically (300m2 in 1940 and 2800 m2 in 2004) is one of them and has generated deficiencies in its infrastructure. One of the most notorious is in transportation. The proliferation of land terminals, whether informal or formal without being conceived within an urban development plan is a direct consequence of this lack of planning. These terminals are crowded together at critical points in Lima within the urban center. That is why this work raises the project of a large land terminal in East Lima, which will be tied to the Urban Plan of Lima with the aim of bringing the terminals to the periphery of the city in order to improve transport. For this purpose, the problem will be analyzed with arguments that will justify the choice of the typology.
