La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo describir, desde la teoría psicoanalítica, las representaciones mentales de paternidad en parejas con hijos entre los dos y cinco años que asisten a un centro infantil de desarrollo físico, cognitivo y socio emocional. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo con un diseño fenomenológico, utilizando una entrevista semiestructurada como instrumento. Los participantes fueron seis parejas de madres y padres, profesionales con mínimo un año de casados. Se halló que los participantes, en base a sus experiencias tempranas, desean que el padre esté presente y sea guía de sus hijos; la paternidad es un aprendizaje continuo y se va transformando a partir de las experiencias con sus hijos y sus parejas. Se concluye que actualmente hay una mayor participación de los hombres en la crianza siendo los hijos eje central de su vida; sin embargo, los roles de género tradicionales aún se mantienen vigentes. |

A qualitative study with a phenomenological design was carried out, using a semi-structured in-depth interview as an instrument. The participants were six couples of mothers and fathers, with a professional career, and at least one year of marriage. It was found that the participants, based on their early experiences, want the father to be present and guide their children; paternity is a continuous learning, and it is transformed from the experiences with their children and their partners.
