En marzo del 2022 dos autores seleccionaron los estudios realizando extracción de información y valoración de riesgo de sesgo. En este estudio la variable de exposición será hipotiroidismo y la variable de desenlace será esteatosis hepática no alcohólica. Resultados: Se incluyeron 20 estudios relacionados entre esteatosis hepática e hipotiroidismo, 13 estudios de tipo transversal, 5 estudios de casos y controles y 2 estudios de tipo cohorte. Se encontró que el número de pacientes entre los estudios varió entre 50 a 114966 pacientes. Se identifico asociación entre hipotiroidismo (clínico, subclínico y no clasificado) y el desarrollo de esteatosis hepática no alcohólica (p<0.05) en 10/20 estudios incluidos. Conclusiones: Los resultados de los estudios actuales son contradictorios acerca de la asociación entre las anormalidades de la tiroides y esteatosis hepática no alcohólica (EHNA). Los resultados de algunos de los estudios revisados proponen el hipotiroidismo como un factor de asociado a esteatosis hepática no alcohólica.

Methods: Systematic review of observational studies in databases (Pubmed, Scopus, Web of Science). In March 2022 two authors selected the studies by performing information extraction and risk of bias assessment. In this study the exposure variable will be hypothyroidism and the outcome variable will be nonalcoholic hepatic steatosis. Results: 20 studies related between hepatic steatosis and hypothyroidism were included, 13 cross-sectional studies, 5 case-control studies and 2 cohort studies. We found that the number of patients among the studies ranged from 50 to 114966 patients. Association between hypothyroidism (clinical, subclinical, and unclassified) and the development of non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis (p<0.05) was identified in 10/20 included studies. Conclusions: The results of the current studies are conflicting about the association between thyroid abnormalities and non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis (NASH).
