Se excluyeron animales con signos clínicos de enfermedad hematológica activa, anemia grave o antecedentes de transfusiones previas. Las muestras de sangre fueron recolectadas en clínicas veterinarias del distrito y procesadas con el kit de tipificación felina Bioguard Feline Blood Typing Kit. El análisis reveló una alta prevalencia del grupo sanguíneo A, presente en el 97.7% (84/86) de los individuos evaluados. Se identificaron únicamente dos gatos con grupo B (2.3%) y no se detectaron individuos con grupo AB. Dada la marcada predominancia del grupo A, no se aplicaron pruebas inferenciales y el análisis estadístico se limitó a la caracterización descriptiva del grupo predominante. Se concluye que la población felina evaluada presenta una distribución sanguínea homogénea, con predominio absoluto del grupo A. Este hallazgo refuerza la necesidad de incorporar la tipificación sanguínea como práctica clínica rutinaria en medicina felina, especialmente en contextos transfusionales o reproductivos, a fin de prevenir reacciones hemolíticas y otras complicaciones inmunológicas.

A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted using convenience sampling of 86 felines of different ages, sexes, and breeds, whose owners authorized their participation. Animals with clinical signs of active hematological disease, severe anemia, or a history of previous transfusions were excluded. Blood samples were collected at veterinary clinics in the district and processed with the Bioguard Feline Blood Typing Kit. The analysis revealed a high prevalence of blood type A, present in 97.7% (84/86) of the individuals evaluated. Only two cats with type B were identified (2.3%), and no individuals with type AB were detected. Given the marked predominance of type A, inferential tests were not applied, and statistical analysis was limited to the descriptive characterization of the predominant group. It is concluded that the feline population evaluated presents a homogeneous blood distribution, with an absolute predominance of group A.
