Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la relación entre el síndrome de burnout y el engagement en el personal asistencial de un hospital de Trujillo. Se empleó un enfoque de investigación de tipo sustantiva - descriptiva con un diseño correlacional. La muestra incluyó a 158 profesionales asistenciales a los que se les aplicó el Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Service Survey (MBI-HSS) de Maslach et al. y el Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) de Schaufeli et al. Los resultados revelaron una tendencia media-baja de burnout y altos niveles de engagement en esta muestra. Además, se encontró una correlación estadísticamente significativa (p<.01), inversa y moderada entre las variables. Así como relaciones altamente significativas (p<.01) y de grado medio entre las dimensiones agotamiento emocional y despersonalización del burnout y las tres dimensiones del engagement. Por último, se identificó una relación altamente significativa (p<.01) directa y de grado moderado entre la dimensión realización personal y la dimensión vigor, así como una relación significativa (p<.05) positiva y de grado bajo con la dimensión dedicación, mientras que no se encontró relación (p>.05) con la dimensión absorción |

A substantive-descriptive research approach with a correlational design was used. The sample included 158 healthcare professionals to whom the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Service Survey (MBI-HSS) by Maslach et al. and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) by Schaufeli et al. The results revealed a medium-low tendency for burnout and high levels of engagement in this sample. Furthermore, a statistically significant (p<.01), inverse and moderate correlation was found between the variables. In the same way, a highly significant (p<.01) and medium-grade relationships were found between the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimensions of burnout and the three dimensions of engagement.
