description En Latinoamérica, la investigación en los centros universitarios no ha sido consecuente con los requerimientos de grandes problemas sociales y ambientales que se producen en la región, más bien, es el producto de desarrollo de líneas de investigación un tanto desarticuladas de la realidad concurrente. Por ello, este estudio procura a través del análisis valorativo hermenéutico documental ofrecer una visión reflexiva sobre la necesidad de enfocar la investigación en un marco de Responsabilidad Social Universitaria-RSU. La investigación en la universidad debe responder como un mecanismo de inserción en los procesos eco sociales para dar respuestas a indicadores de las metas de los ODS de la Agenda2030, para ello, requiere de una transformación curricular donde los procesos formativos e investigativos complementen la función extensionista de la universidad procurando satisfacer las urgentes demandas sociales. Este accionar también cumplirá con el objetivo de superar la mercantilización del conocimiento que está en progreso y que intenta perpetuarse en la región

For this reason, this study seeks -through documentary hermeneutic value analysis- to offer a reflective vision of the need to focus research within a framework of University Social Responsibility-USR. Research at the university must respond as a mechanism for the insertion in ecosocial processes to respond to indicators of the goals of the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, for this, it requires a curricular transformation where the training and research processes complement the extension function of the university trying to satisfy the urgent social demands.
