description Identificar los factores asociados a la presencia de sibilancias recurrentes en niños menores de 5 años hospitalizados en el Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray. Materiales y métodos: Estudio observacional, analítico, de casos y controles, retrospectivo. Se incluyó a 158 pacientes menores de 5 años hospitalizados entre enero del 2019 a enero de 2025., distribuidos en 56 casos y 102 controles. Se recolectaron datos clínicos, perinatales y ambientales. El análisis estadístico se realizó con SPSS v27.0 mediante regresión logística bivariada y multivariada. Resultados: Las variables asociadas de forma independiente a sibilancias recurrentes fueron: mayor edad (p = 0.003; ORa: 1.037), sexo masculino (p = 0.005; ORa: 3.004) y obesidad (p < 0.001; ORa: 7.504). También se hallaron asociaciones significativas con historia familiar de asma, bajo peso al nacer, prematuridad, exposición prenatal al humo del tabaco y parto por cesárea. Conclusiones Las sibilancias recurrentes en menores de 5 años se presentan con mayor frecuencia en aquellos con exposición prenatal al humo del tabaco, antecedente familiar de asma, sexo masculino, bajo peso al nacer, prematuridad, parto por cesárea, mayor edad y obesidad, lo que evidencia la influencia conjunta de factores perinatales, clínicos y de estilo de vida en su aparición

Materials and methods: An observational, analytical, retrospective case-control study was conducted. A total of 158 patients under 5 years of age hospitalized between January 2019 and January 2025 were included, distributed into 56 cases and 102 controls. Clinical, perinatal, and environmental data were collected. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS v27.0, employing bivariate and multivariate logistic regression. Results: The variables independently associated with recurrent wheezing were: older age (p = 0.003; aOR: 1.037), male sex (p = 0.005; aOR: 3.004), and obesity (p < 0.001; aOR: 7.504). Significant associations were also found with family history of asthma, low birth weight, prematurity, prenatal exposure to tobacco smoke, and cesarean delivery.
