RESULTADOS: La frecuencia de niños con retraso psicomotor el 29,3% recibieron lactancia materna exclusiva (LME) y de los niños sin retraso psicomotor el 84,5% recibieron lactancia materna exclusiva (LME), la asociación entre lactancia materna exclusiva y retraso psicomotor es estadísticamente significativa (p<0.001; OR: 0.08, IC 95%:0.03-0.19) siendo la lactancia materna exclusiva un factor protector. En el análisis multivariado se encontró que la prematuridad es estadísticamente significativa (OR; 9,12; IC 95%: 1,10 - 75,47 p<0.015), mientras que no se encontró asociación estadísticamente significativa con las variables: sexo, bajo peso al nacer, obesidad, procedencia y niño huérfano (p> 0.05). CONCLUSIONES: La lactancia materna exclusiva es factor protector de retraso psicomotor en niños de 2 a 5 años en el Hospital Albrecht.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: Observational, analytical, retrospective study of cases and controls, with a sample of 116 children (58 cases and 58 controls) and its possible association with exclusive breastfeeding (EBF), the data was collected in a collection form. of data from the medical records of each child included in the study and who have been treated at the Albrecht Hospital in Trujillo in 2019. RESULTS: The frequency of children with psychomotor retardation 29.3% received exclusive breastfeeding (LME) and of children without psychomotor retardation 84.5% received exclusive breastfeeding (LME), the association between exclusive breastfeeding and psychomotor retardation is statistically significant (p<0.001; OR: 0.08, 95% CI: 0.03-0.19) with exclusive breastfeeding being a protective factor. In the multivariate analysis, it was found that prematurity is statistically significant (OR; 9.12; 95% CI: 1.10 - 75.47 p<0.015), while no statistically significant association was found with the variables: sex, low birth weight, obesity, origin and orphan child (p > 0.05).
