El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo comparar la percepción estética del perfil facial entre cirujanos dentistas, personas comunes, y estudiantes de Estomatología de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego en el año 2015. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: El estudio prospectivo, transversal, comparativo y observacional incluyó un total de 366 sujetos entre ellos 122 cirujanos dentistas, 122 estudiantes de Estomatología del primer al quinto año de estudios y 122 personas comunes. Para la percepción estética del perfil facial, se les mostró 5 siluetas diseñadas para el estudio y el encuestado tuvo que evaluar en una escala del 1 - 10. RESULTADOS: Los resultados obtenidos no mostraron diferencia significativa en la percepción estética del perfil facial entre cirujanos dentistas, personas comunes y estudiantes de Estomatología; excepto en la imagen con perfil facial Clase III donde hay significancia estadística para los tres grupos. (p<0.05) CONCLUSIÓN: El perfil facial Recto obtuvo los mayores resultados, y el perfil facial Clase III los menores resultados para los cirujanos dentistas, personas comunes y estudiantes de Estomatología.

The facial profile is an important factor in determining this appeal. This study aimed to compare the aesthetic perception of facial profile among dentists, ordinary people, and students of Stomatology Antenor Orrego Private University in 2015. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The prospective, transversal, comparative and observational study included a total of 366 subjects including 122 dentists, 122 Dentistry students from first to fifth year of study and 122 common people. For aesthetic perception of facial profile, they were shown five silhouettes designed for the study and the respondent had to assess on a scale of 1-10. RESULTS: The results showed no significant difference in the aesthetic perception of facial profile among dentists, common people and Stomatology students; except Class III facial image where statistical significance for all three groups profile.
