Se recogieron los datos del diagnóstico de prurito sistémico y de mal control glucémico. Los resultados fueron analizados mediante prueba de Chi-cuadrado prueba del coeficiente de phi y el análisis multivariado mediante regresión logística. RESULTADOS: Se observó que del total de pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 el 68.2 % de pacientes tiene un mal control glicémico, mientras que un 31.8% no presenta mal control glicémico, además se encontró que la frecuencia en la que aparece prurito sistémico en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 es de un 12.5% mientras que un 87.5% de pacientes no presenta prurito sistémico. Para la medida de asociación de mal control glicémico y prurito sistémico, se encontró a través de la prueba de coeficiente de phi, la cual es una medida de asociación para variables cualitativas nominales, para tablas de 2x2, se obtuvo como resultado un valor positivo de Phi de: 0.257 lo que determina la asociación positiva y levemente significativa de ambas variables. CONCLUSION: El mal control glicémico es un factor asociado a prurito sistémico en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2.

MATERIAL AND METHOD: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out, for which the clinical histories of 321 patients with DM-2 who were treated in the dermatology, internal medicine or endocrinology outpatient clinic of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo between the years 2015 - 2019. Data on the diagnosis of systemic pruritus and poor glycemic control were collected. The results were analyzed using the Chi-square test, the phi coefficient test, and the multivariate analysis using logistic regression. RESULTS: It was discovered that of the total number of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, 68.2% of patients have poor glycemic control, while 31.8% do not have poor glycemic control, in addition it was found that the frequency in which systemic pruritus appears in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus it is 12.5% while 87.5% of patients do not present systemic pruritus. For the measure of association of poor glycemic control and systemic pruritus, it was found through the phi coefficient test, which is a measure of association for nominal qualitative variables, for 2x2 tables, a positive value of Phi of: 0.257, which determines the positive and slightly significant association of both variables.
