Método: Estudio de casos y controles en donde se revisaron 236 historias clínicas de pacientes con resultado infección por H. pylori mediante biopsia por endoscopía digestiva alta (118 con infección y 118 controles) atendidos en el servicio de gastroenterología del Hospital Regional Docente de Cajamarca. Se calculó el Odds ratio (OR) para el análisis bivariado y se realizó el análisis multivariado mediante regresión logística para el análisis de las variables confusoras. Resultados: El consumo de alcohol fue más frecuente en los pacientes sin infección por H. pylori (24 vs 14%), significando un factor de protección en el análisis bivariado (OR: 0.50, p=0.045); sin embargo, no se mantuvo significativo luego de realizar el análisis multivariado (ORa: 0.51, IC95%: 0.26-1.01, p=0.051). Conclusión: No existe asociación significativa entre el consumo de alcohol y la infección por Helicobacter pylori.
