Este estudio prospectivo, transversal, descriptivo y observacional se desarrolló en el Centro de Salud Bellavista de La Esperanza, realizando una encuesta de 15 preguntas a 60 gestantes. El nivel de conocimiento se calificó como bueno, regular y malo; siendo el nivel conocimiento regular como el predominante con 66.7% y el menor fue el nivel malo con 11.7%. No se encontró una diferencia significativa en las distintas variables como edad, número de hijos, grado de instrucción, pero siempre prevaleció el resultado regular. Alcanzar un alto nivel de conocimiento en salud oral en las futuras madres debe ser un objetivo prioritario porque el cuidado que ellas tendrán en esta etapa es de vital importancia al igual que los conocimientos y hábitos que transmitirá al bebé, además en esta etapa la madre esta propensa a lesiones y sintomatología orales difíciles de tratar debido a los cuidados que la condición de embarazo demanda.

This prospective, transversal, descriptive and observat ional study was conducted in the obstetric service of the Health Center Bellavista in La Esperanza, with a inquiri of 15 questions to 60 pregnants. The level of knowledge was rated as good, regular and bad; where the regular knowledge level with 66.7% was the predominant and the bad knowledge level is the lower result with 11.7%. A significant difference wasn’found in the different variables as age, number of children, degree of instruction, however, the predominant result was always the regular level.
