description Determinar la eficacia de la intervención educativa en el nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal en adultos mayores que asisten al centro integral de atención a las personas adultas mayores – CIAM – La Esperanza, Trujillo 2017. Se acudió al CIAM dos veces por semana durante el periodo Agosto – Octubre; la muestra estuvo conformada por 61 adultos mayores que fueron seleccionados aleatoriamente y que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Se empleó un cuestionario antes, inmediatamente después y después de un mes, en la que se hizo usó la técnica expositiva mediante rotafolios. Para el análisis de resultados se empleó la prueba estadística de McNemar, considerando un nivel de significancia del 5%. Resultados: Se encontró que el nivel de conocimiento antes de la intervención educativa fue malo con 77.0%; inmediatamente después de la intervención se incrementó a bueno con 80.3% y después de un mes se elevó a muy bueno con 52.5%, el grupo etario que mayor nivel de conocimiento obtuvieron fue el de 60– 69 años y según el grado de instrucción el nivel secundario obtuvo un nivel de conocimiento más alto. Conclusiones: La intervención educativa fue eficaz ya que ésta elevó el nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal en adultos mayores.
