Descripción
Sumario:Objective: To determine quality of life in patients with chronic renal disease on haemodialysis at the Equilux Haemodialysis Centre. April to September 2016. Materials and Methods: Quantitative, transverse study of descriptive, observational type. Patients with a diagnosis of chronic renal disease on haemodialysis treated at the Equilux haemodialysis centre were included. METHODS: We interviewed 84 patients who met the selection criteria through simple random sampling. The instrument was a questionnaire of 36 questions that measure 8 dimensions that are grouped into two components, physical health and mental health. An unhealthy quality of life was estimated to be less than 50, and a healthy quality of life greater than or equal to 50 points. Results: The quality of life perceived by patients on haemodialysis at the Equilux Haemodialysis Centre was an unhealthy quality of life with a median of 48.23 points. A significant difference (P <0.037) was obtained between the components of mental health and physical health, with a more favourable score in the mental health component. Among the variables studied, the ones that obtained significant differences (P <0.05) were those according to age, pathology and type of access. Conclusion: The present research shows that patients perceive in general an unhealthy quality of life, results that show the need to implement strategies to improve the quality of life prioritizing the most affected dimensions
