Sumario:Cesarean section is often becoming a popular mode of delivery for children around the world. There are two general categories of anesthesia for cesarean section: general anesthesia and regional anesthesia; internationally recommended regional anesthesia is these patients due to the risk of a tracheal failure intubation and aspiration of gastric content in pregnant women who undergo general anesthesia. Maternal hypotension after spinal anesthesia has an incidence of 80% and could in many cases compromise the wellbeing of the mother and the fetus. Objective: To determine if the level of high sensory block in pregnant women is a risk factor for arterial hypotension in Cesarean pregnant women exposed to spinal anesthesia in the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray hospital. Method: This study corresponds to an analytical, observational, cases and controls design, retrospective. In the population, it was divided into cases (pregnant patients with hypotension) and controls (pregnant women with no hypotension) and the high sensory level (high block) was analyzed. Conclusions: The level of high sensory block is a risk factor for hypotension in pregnant women.
