Sumario: | In this research the Early Stimulation Program (ESP) by “Vida’s Centro de la Familia”, a private institution, has been applied and its effectiveness has been evaluated for the psychomotor development of children ages 0 to 3. This research was applied to an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG), each with 50 children participants. The ESP sessions consisted of: a) massages (Shantala technique), b) language techniques, c) game dynamics with teaching material, d) music therapy, e) experience-based dance, and f) aquatic stimulation. For the ESP the Evaluation Scale for the Memphis Project was used, quoted by Alegría (2008), which considers: a) gross motor development, b) fine motor development, c) perceptual-cognitive development, d) language development, e) personal-social adaptation skills development. For data analysis, the test "T Student" of paired data and Chi-squared test of Pearson and McNemar. The evaluation revealed a significant increase in the psychomotor development in the EG, in an average of 4 months, which suggests the current usefulness of the program and its necessary continuity. The CG increased its psychomotor development but at a lower percentage than the EG, which confirms that the lack of stimulation leads to a stagnation in their psychomotor development. The implementation of the ESP by the “Vida’s” institution is highly effective (p0.001) since it increased the acquisition of psychomotor conducts in the stimulated children in contrast to their peers who did not experience early stimulation. |
