Aztreonam consumption was expressed in DDD/100 bed-day, using the methodology recommended by the Collaborating Centre of the World Health Organization for drug utilization studies in services Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray, was 0.4 DDD/100camas/day annual average. The annual cost of Aztreonam for the Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray in 2009 was S/. 65653.92

The annual cost of Aztreonam for the Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray in 2009 was S/. 65653.92El presente trabajo de investigación, es un estudio descriptivo-retrospectivo, de corte transversal cuyo objetivo es determinar el consumo y costo de Aztreonam en los Servicios de Hospitalización (Medicina, Cirugía, Ginecología, Obstetricia, Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos y Unidad de Cuidados Intermedios) del Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray en el año 2009, a fin de evaluar la tendencia del consumo, así como posibles desviaciones en el transcurso del periodo de estudio que supongan un uso indiscriminado de este medicamento. El universo muestral estuvo constituido por los registros mensuales informatizados de pacientes hospitalizados con prescripción de Aztreonam atendidas por la Farmacia de Hospitalización a través del sistema de dosis unitaria (SISMUD). Para lo cual, se tomaron los datos de consumo del Sistema de Gestión Hospitalaria del Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray, en el período de 01 Enero al 31 de Diciembre del año 2009, los cuales fueron procesados y analizados en una hoja de Excel, tomando como parámetros generales el consumo anual por servicios. El consumo de Aztreonam fue expresado en DDD/100 camas/día, utilizando la metodología recomendada por el Centro Colaborador de la Organización Mundial de la Salud para los Estudios de Utilización de Medicamentos, en los servicios de hospitalización del Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray, fue de 0.4 DDD/100camas/día en promedio anual.
