description Mesoplastics are plastic particles ranging in size from 5 to 25 mm, formed by the fragmentation of larger plastics and becoming microplastics. It is essential to understand the presence of mesoplastics during the summer and fall, as this will allow us to better understand how these materials are distributed and transported in the environment. Therefore, the general objective of this research was to determine the presence of mesoplastics in the sediments of Salaverry Beach - La Libertad, summer - fall 2022. A total of 566 mesoplastic items were collected, with June being the month with the highest number of items. The average number density was 23.58 items/m2 and the average weight density was 0.46 items/m2. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) was the most common type of plastic, representing 33% of the total composition, followed by fibers/filaments at 31%. The most frequent colors were white and black, with a percentage of 39% and 27%, respectively. Pellet samples were composed of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), PE/rayon, and PP/rayon blends (5%), while all black fibers were composed of PE/rayon. The number density of mesoplastics during the sampling months varied from 0 to 23.25 items/m2, while the weight density varied from 0 to 0.435 g/m2. Standardized anomaly data indicated little variability in the types of mesoplastics, with values ranging from 0.05 to -1.09, as well as the standardized anomaly of Salaverry's surface wind at 10 m.a.s.l. The strongest correlations between both anomalies were found with EPS, with a correlation coefficient of 0.94. Two-way ANOVA indicated no significant differences between summer and fal nor between zones (high tide line, low tide line, and dune zone). Sustainable measures for the management of plastics in Salaverry were proposed, involving both fishermen, beachgoers and citizens, and the competent authorities responsible for enforcing relevant regulations

Sustainable measures for the management of plastics in Salaverry were proposed, involving both fishermen, beachgoers and citizens, and the competent authorities responsible for enforcing relevant regulationsLos mesoplásticos son partículas de plástico de 5 a 25 mm, que se forman por fragmentación de plásticos más grandes y convertirse en microplásticos.
