Se empleó el análisis temático de corte inductivo para la codificación de datos cualitativos, de los cuales se presentaron dieciséis subtemas y cuatro temas principales: Relación familiar y convivencia con el fallecido, Circunstancias de la enfermedad y fallecimiento, Manifestaciones psicológicas, necesidades y tareas del duelo y Rituales y apoyo social percibido. Los resultados obtenidos indican que los participantes han elaborado un duelo intenso, traumático a raíz de una muerte repentina y privado de ciertos derechos como expresar el dolor de la pérdida por lidiar con diversos eventos estresores en simultáneo, caracterizándose por tener más factores de riesgo que de protección. Finalmente, se proponen sugerencias teóricas y prácticas para futuras investigaciones.

Finalmente, se proponen sugerencias teóricas y prácticas para futuras investigaciones.The purpose of this study was to describe the grieving process in seven young adults between 20 and 40 years old who lost a family member to COVID-19 in Metropolitan Lima in the last two years at the time of study. The method applied on this research was the qualitative investigation with interpretive phenomenological design. The instrument used was a semi-structured interview created by the researcher and submitted to content validity by expert judgment. Inductive thematic analysis was used for the coding of qualitative data, obtaining sixteen subthemes and four main themes: Family relationship and coexistence with the deceased, Circumstances of illness and death, Psychological manifestations, needs and tasks of grieving and Rituals and perceived social support. The findings indicate that the participants have an intense, traumatic grief as a result of a sudden death and deprived of certain rights such as expressing the pain of loss by several stressful events simultaneously, characterized by having more risk factors than protection factors.
