Descripción
Sumario:The COVID-19 pandemic has left profound physical, emotional, and social scars on vulnerable communities like Anchonga, Peru. Amidst distrust in mainstream medicine and the lingering effects of the pandemic, indigenous women have turned to the ancestral wisdom of traditional medicine. This study, through the case of Felipa and Rosa, explores how the utilization of medicinal plants has become an act of self-care, cultural preservation, and empowerment. It concludes that traditional medicine has played a pivotal role in the recovery and well-being of indigenous women. The study underscores the need to rebuild trust and foster intercultural dialogue to integrate traditional medicine into the healthcare system while respecting the autonomy and rights of indigenous women. Methodology: This qualitative study employed in-depth interviews with Felipa and Rosa, two indigenous women from Anchonga, to understand their experiences with traditional medicine during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
