Descripción
Sumario:The objective of this study was to compare fourth-year students’ oral communication skills in English at public secondary schools in Iquitos district 2020 according to their academic shift. The type of research was comparative with field study, transectional contemporary, and univariable designs. The population was made up by 1,864 students and a deterministic sample of 201 students. The data gathering tools were a valid and reliable oral performance test and rubrics (82.8% 76.1% Cronbach's Alpha). Results show that both students from morning and afternoon shifts are at “beginning performance” (8.4 and 8.6 out of 20). The same happens in its dimensions: Getting information (10.147 and 10.678), Inferencing and interpreting (10.319 and 10.00), strategic interaction (5.199 and (7,128), use of non-verbal and paraverbal resources (6.691 and 7.205). It is concluded that there is no statistically significant difference in the population students’ oral communication skills in English performance between shifts as p-value = 0.869 > ? = 0.05, rejecting the working hypothesis.
