Sumario:The objective of the present study was to establish the relationship of maternal parental style in the academic performance in the areas of communication and mathematics of the students of the V Cycle of primary school of the Educational Institution Nº 6010274. The type of study is descriptive with a quantitative approach, non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational design. The population consisted of 100 students of the fifth cycle and the same number of mothers. As the sample was the total population, non-probabilistic sampling was used. The survey technique and documentary analysis were applied; the questionnaire and the registration form were used as instruments. Statistical graphs were used to analyze the tables of data percentages and averages. The most relevant conclusions were the following: The parental style scales with the highest prevalence in mothers are autonomy with 67 %; role distribution with 62 %; satisfaction with parenting with 57 %; social desirability with 57 % and discipline with 52%. The parental style of the mothers of the V Cycle students is Authorized with 52%. The academic performance in the areas of communication and mathematics is level A. The data collected were evaluated by means of statistical tables and graphs, applying Pearson's correlation at the 0.05 level (bilateral), which allowed the research hypothesis to be accepted: There is a significant relationship of the parental style of the mothers and the academic performance in the areas of communication and mathematics of the students of the V Cycle of primary school of the Educational Institution Nº 6010274.
