| Sumario: | The present study aimed to determine the factors associated with the level of knowledge about antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance among physicians in the city of Iquitos, in 2025. It was an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study with a relational and epidemiological (field) design. A total of 140 physicians from public and private health institutions in Iquitos were included during 2025. Data were collected through a survey, and the instrument used was a validated questionnaire. SPSS version 27.0 was employed for the analysis. Informed consent was obtained from all participants, ensuring anonymity of the information, and bioethical principles were applied. Seventy-five percent of participants showed an adequate level of knowledge about antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance. Sociodemographic and training-related factors revealed that most were adults between 30 and 59 years old (74,3%), had 1 to 10 years of work experience (51,4%), held a medical specialty (55,0%), and worked in MINSA hospitals (55,0%). Likewise, the majority worked in a single institution (67,9%), had completed undergraduate studies at public universities (82,1%), pursued postgraduate studies at public universities (51,4%), and had not received specialized courses in antimicrobials (55,0%). A statistically significant association was identified between age group (p=0,031), work experience (p=0,029), specialty (p=0,049), and the level of knowledge about antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance. The study concluded that physicians demonstrated adequate knowledge of antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance. |
