Descripción
Sumario:In 2020, a study identified that childhood diarrheal disease was statistically associated with mothers' educational level. Receiving education can increase knowledge about diarrhea transmission and prevention methods, improve household health and sanitation practices, and encourage behavior change at the household level (14). According to the WHO, diarrhea remains the second leading cause of child mortality worldwide. Nearly one in five child deaths is due to diarrheal disease. Diarrheal diseases kill more young children than malaria, HIV/AIDS, and measles combined (4). Diarrheal disease negatively impacts the growth and development of infants and young children. Worldwide, an average of 3.2 episodes occur in children under the age of 5. Consequently, 1.87 million children will die annually from dehydration associated with diarrheal disease, especially in countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America (5). The main objective of this research is to determine the association between the level of knowledge and preventive practices for ADD among mothers of children under 5 years of age treated in the pediatric ward of the Loreto Regional Hospital during the 2022 period. The methodology for this study will follow a descriptive-correlational, quantitative, and cross-sectional framework.
