The research focuses on analyzing the prevalence of hyperglycemic crises in diabetic patients at the Regional Hospital of Loreto in the period january 1, 2023 – june 30, 2023. Given the high prevalence of diabetes in Latin America and its link with potentially fatal hyperglycemic crises, this study is crucial. The objective is to deepen the relationship between sociodemographic factors, initial diagnosis, decompensation and type of treatment with these crises. The relevance lies in improving diabetes care and prevention, benefiting both patients and medical staff. The research will be conducted using data from medical records and patient surveys, ensuring informed consent and following rigorous protocols, which promises to provide valuable information to address this troubling public health issue effectively. Results will be processed with descriptive statistics for initial analysis and inferential statistics (Chi-square test) for determination of the degrees of association between variables.
