| Sumario: | The study carries out an analysis of the evolution of the behavior (frequency, intensity and duration) of the annual cold weather from 2010-2021 in the capital cities of the provinces of the Loreto region, it is a quantitative research of the analytical, horizontal and retrospective type. The secondary information was obtained from the Cold Records (Minimum and maximum temperatures, Direction and Speed of the wind) during the cold periods in Loreto of the SENAMHI. From which the changes that could be occurring in relation to the frequency, intensity and duration of cold weather in the Loreto region were analyzed. Of the cities evaluated in the Loreto region, in relation to the frequency of annual colds (Number of annual colds), the City of Contamana reports colds every year and at a high frequency, thus, in 2018 there were 23 colds and 21 colds in 2010; In this city, cold weather occurs every month and in some cases more than once in the years evaluated. The annual cold days in the cities of the region tend to vary mainly due to two aspects: the speed and intensity of the winds that push the cold masses from south to north and secondly due to the geographical location of the city, that is, the Cities located further south in the region are the ones that endure the longest cold days. Differently, the city of Contamana reports cold weather lasting more days, in the month of July 2010 with nine (09) days, that is, it is the city that reports the cold weather lasting longer in the region. The intensity of the cold (°C) in the cold periods, that is, the minimum temperature that was recorded in the cities of the region, tends to vary depending on the geographical positions it occupies. The city of San Lorenzo, located further northwest in the region, is the one with the lowest temperature intensity, in August 2019, with 15°C. For its part, the city of Contamana, located further south in the region, is the one that receives the cold winds from the southern part of the continent with greater intensity and they occur twelve months of the year and the intensity of the cold (°C) tends to vary. The most intense cold occurred in the month of July 2010, which reached a minimum temperature of 11 °C, which is the lowest reported in the region. In Contamana there are the most intense cold periods in the region, the coldest months are July and August. |
