Sumario:α-Glucosidase inhibitors are agents of therapeutic interest because they can contribute to reducing intestinal glucose absorption and, therefore, reduce hyperglycemia in pathological conditions such as diabetes. In this investigation, the inhibitory activity was determined in ethanolic extracts of Solanum sessiliflorum Dunal (cocona) and Capsicum annuum L. (aji dulce) on α-glucosidase, evaluated at 100, 250, 500 and 1000 µg/mL, the species being selected and collected for convenience in the Fernando Lores district (198°S 4°0'6” S 73°9'38” O). The results showed that both the peel extract of the fruit of S. sessiliflorum Dunal and the extract of the fruit of C. annuum L., in none of the evaluated concentrations were able to exceed 50% inhibition; these results allow us to conclude that both plant species evaluated are not considered active to produce an inhibitory effect on α-glucosidase.
