Descripción
Sumario:The main purpose of this research is to describe the level of achievement reached in reading comprehension by fifth- and sixth-grade students at the Public Educational Institution No. 60528 Hermanos Palla, located in Intuto, Tigre River, during the year 2024. The study is framed within a descriptive approach, aimed at presenting and analyzing the observed phenomenon. The methodology corresponds to a cross-sectional field investigation, since the data collection was carried out at a single point in time. The sample consisted of 56 students from the aforementioned grades, to whom a questionnaire designed to assess reading comprehension was applied; this instrument had been previously validated by specialists. The results show that 35.7% of the students are at the Beginning level, another 35.7% at the In-Progress level, and 28.6% at the Expected level. These data reveal that most students have not yet reached the expected level of reading comprehension, being distributed evenly between the beginning and in progress levels. This situation highlights a limited consolidation of fundamental reading comprehension skills, especially those related to inferential and critical comprehension.
